got that S-Works swingarm assembly mounted up with BETD bearings all the way around!! This baby has WAY better small bump compliance now. And this assembly weighs 1/3 less than the 4X rear end I took off. Now I have a backup swingarm to boot!

why thank you very much man!
this frame was only ridden 6 times before I scored it. The rear stays I installed are just a tad longer than the 4X stuff I took off so this upgrade has made her a waaaay better climber. I amazed a 19 & 20 year old I ride with by climbing one of the steepest, most technical trails here where I live,.and Im 41!!

You seem to know your shit when it comes to this SX. lol Have you considered getting a new shock? It seems to be the only thing you haven't replaced. Razz

Ya I was gonna wait til I could afford a Marzo or DT maybe. Im not sure since it's a 6.5 X 1.5" so my choices are kinda limited. Any suggestions? I did get a *non* Pro Pedal Vanilla R ($65) since I dont mind it being fully active. I can feel the Pro Pedal and its kinda "notchy" to me if that makes any sense. When I run the *non* Pro Pedal shock,.it seems more "small bump compliant" to me. I also installed a #900 spring so I dont have to crank up the preload. So far,.waaaayy better bike overall. The BETD swing link up'd my travel from 3.9/4.75 to 5.25/6" and changed the instant center of the suspension load and made it a real climber too.

Pretty optioned-out bike. Big Grin I don't have any suggestions, my knowledge is kind of limited in that area of biking. What's up with you and all the older Specializeds, though? Most bike shop employees have all new stuff, but you ride classics.

Ya and it's ironic you should mention that since Im juuuust about to take a deal from my Trek rep on an Elite 9.8 Carbon FS frame. And as far as "classics" go I bought the '99 S-Works HT in 2000 on a closeout and have had it ever since. Most of the other bikes (frames) I scored killer deals on. They also remind me of some of the worst times of my life when I absolutely could not afford them,.so it's a "psychological triumph" to me to own them if you know what I mean. Even tho she weighs almost #30 it rides, climbs and handles better than any bike Ive owned so far. Whaddaya think of a Trek Elite 9.8? Imma do some research and see if it's gonna be right for me.
