It would be nice to have a wider crop, as currently you cant judge anything from the photo, possibly a little more fill light, and actual sharpness not photoshop sharpening would also be good, otherwise, its an alright shot.
This shouldn't get pod, honestly, this isn't a bad pic, but imho it isn't half as good as some of the recent pods..

Erm, criticising the quality of a photo is acceptable last time i checked? and oneednewbike, Pinkbike just happens to be the worst place ever to host photos, therefore alot of photographers choose not to post their work up.
This isnt a dig at Charleys pictures, he has some great shot and is well on his way to being one of the pb 'elite' photographers. its just that he has way better shots.

I think with a different crop (assuming this is a crop from a larger picture) with some more information of where he has come from and where he is going this picture would be very nice.
I find that I am drawn to try and figure out what is going on with the rest of the picture and away from the subject. Could just be me though.

Look Im sure Charlie was ether stoned or drunk when he chose this picture, you can barely see some bits on his bike as its so dark, its not scary, and it just doesnt have that intense feel! I no that theres alow bigger and better pictures oout there!!!

wow, wonder how he manages to stay on his bike without an headlamp...looks so dark in the wood ! ;-) Thats a shit photo
nope the forest is dark because on the shutter speed used...High shutter will give you sharp images but any good photographer should be able to get VERY sharp image at much lower shutter,using flashes.Flashes can be used to either make your subject "pop" out of the frame OR freeze the action in case you need to use a slower ss.
You would then get more ambient light in your shot and show more of the surrounding which, quite frankly is the reason why 99% of the biker are doing this sport, to be in the forest.This is a perfect example of a guy with SOLID camera gear but poor camera skills.I used to look up upon Pinkbikes POD but whoever they hired this summer, needs a new jobs, cause really aside for the rider position in the frame ( which is alright ) that is a mediocre shot...

ambient light are you for real the sun had almost set it was prity much pitch black and ftr it was on 160th of a second f2.8 any slower and it would have had motion which i didnt want
Well A) Im sorry to break the news but you can still shoot VERY SHARP images at speeds WELL below 160 th my friend, ESPECIALLY if you are using remote lights. I mean WTF?? and you are asking me if I AM for real?!?!? Is there any other photohog here that can chime in,cause that guy is clueless!!!

Good effort on getting POD......but sorry this picture does not deserve to be POD as its just a bog standard photo with little special or epic about it.

Beautiful picture. i think slowing down the shutter and lessening the flash will make for a better picuture. but love the details especialy in the helmet area! goood stuff!!
