You can still be part of the “emo” culture without self harm. Everyone categorises an “emo” and a regular by their looks, yes?....indeed.

It must be noted though that when a person see's an "emo", they just might assume they do self harm. That's just something you've just got to deal with.

It can also be true that people that join the "emo" culture are doing it because of some emotional trouble they need fulfilled. In your case, where you just dress like that because you like it, would be an exception. Even though there might actually be more people who are in your scenario, whats going to get more attention and ridicule form society...some kid dying his hair black and wearing skinny Jeans, or some kid dying his hair black and wearing skinny Jeans and whinging about life, while cutting himself....see my point?
