the middle lense is definitly on the large side
24-70, 70-200... i'd say if he already has the 70-200, the middle's not a 200 f/2.0... so a 300! haha
its not my gear
but to have 3 1d mk3's a 300mm a 70-200mm 4 580mk2's 5 pocketwizards things must be good and thats only what he takes to a world cup he has a hell of alot more gear
So we're talking what, £20K right here? pretty sweet man, id love to work with some top end gear, my 400D feels so puny in comparison, haha, i want a 70-200 L real bad, think i might pick one up soon.
i know nothing about camera's and lenses, could someone please tell me the advantage of having such a large lense?
Bragging rights like everything else, nah just kiding (sort of) its so you can be at a distance and bring the subject closer
Like as said, he uses it for american football, means he can get a close up shot of something happening on the other side of the pitch.
you can actually get a 70-200 lens like the one in the middle allot smaller but then you end up having a slower shutter speed therefore harder to get a sharper shot. The only disadvantage of say that 70-200 lens is its weight. and believe me their heavy.
No you cant the lense on the right, the 70-200 f2.8 is also avaliable in f4 exactly the same mesurments and in compariseon to the 200 f2.0 or the 300mm they arnt that heavy
to be fair the camera gear is relatively cheap on the grand scale of things ie Flights hotels transfers insurance and so on
sorry.. i was just trying to say that you can get a small (ish) telephoto lens. but you have to compromise with a slower shutter speed f4 for example.
@ Muttley next year for me will cost around 5-6 thousand on flights and accomodation and ill be scumbagging it. @ sam111 sorry for the missunderstanding and your right
My 50-200 does the job
dont really use it much for biking though, used it oncea nd was very impressed. i might have to use it again sooo..... everything here is so tight though, no use for such a long lense.
surely it would be hard to find a spot to get a photo from? youd be pretty constricted i would have thought.
nope youd get some awsome framing with the trees its all about creativity look at sebastians shot of brendog in a berm in the new dirt
you have to scale the prices of lenses in comparison to getting a mortgate on a sports car. it makes things seem much cheaper! haha
5-6 grand? wow! how do you afford it all, have a job or do you sell a lot of your images to mags etc as i didnt think that they paid very much!?!?
wont just do MTB im guessing, does extreme sports like MX and American football. all in all there will be enough mags and that looking for shots to pay suffiently. its just a hell of a competetive business and hard to get into...
Guys, charley isnt a pro.charley dont hate for this, but this isnt his gear aswel, yes charles here is trying to make it, but he isnt there yet.
Ye i know, the kit belongs to Frazer Britton, i read the description
besides, if he had this gear and that occupation, i highly doubt he would wack his photos on pinkbike

@ muttley's point , a pro could have much more expensive and far superior, and alot more costly than what he has here. This for a pro photographer maybe mere hand luggage?
Have you seen what some people take? i have seen people with what 4 bodies, and 7 lenses for one shoot.
well there are two of the best cameras canon do there
but ye, i bet hes got many many other lenses, flashes, tripods etc.
but ye, i bet hes got many many other lenses, flashes, tripods etc.
Exacly, that's why i said mere hand luggage, There's no flash tripods remote triggers battery grips, spare batteries.
theres a site somewhere of a dude heading off to the olympics, he had 15 1Dmk3 Bodies, almost every L Series lense in the book, 30+ PW's and flashes, and to top it off, almost £100K in flash cards, amazing.
Shiz 100k? take 2 100k photo's and your set for the year i wonder how many shot's you would need to get it, 50,000?
haah can imagine him sat there with like 15 triggers in his hands pressing them when someone comes near to a cam
dude, its the olympics, theres like a million security personel, youd be crazy to try to jack a camera from a pro photographer anyway.
Have you seen how much security is in airport yet the haji's still manage to blow up planes. See what I'm
Saying?
Saying?
that was conspiracy
they werent ever named to be on the flight man. The global bankers did it so that the USA would go to war so they would get richer. theres a conspiracy programme i watched on it - a good one. youll watch it and shit bricks. cant remember what its called :/
and planes blow up like all the time. you just dont hear about it. but i think matt was refering to 9/11
No, they dont, allowing for the fact my dad works in a senior position in one of the worlds leading airline insurance companies, i know ALOT more than you do.
Wait, so your seriously saying that 9/11 was NOT a terrorist attack. your ACTUALLY going to do this, going to argue with someone who has probably looked into the evidence alot more than you have, and has access to FAR more information than you could ever gain?
No, i never said that, I'm just saying he inst going to tell his kids about his private job if he is so high up, my dad is the same except in national grid. He can't tell me anything because you don't even know what could happen if someone found out were he works. So I doubt if your dad is high up in the aeroplane business he wont tell his kid's all the details.
My dad is a stock broker, doesnt mean im a financial genius. i thought you would have left the "my daddy blahblahblah" stuff in the play ground man...
and on the point of you saying that planes havent been blown up since 30 years back. heres one that your daddy must not have told you

Steve, ill give you that, i hadnt seen that article, when i said about mt dad i was referring to the 9/11 issue, we have spent hours and hours discussing this theory, weve looked at the facts available, and the only, slightest doubt that can be cast is the pentagon strike, and even then, its not a plausible theory, just accept the fact it happened and stop believeing anti governmental crackpots.
I dont really think its something that we should just accept, thousands of people died and another hundreds of thousands of people have died as a consequence. Answers to the flaws that people have found, like for example the major unanswered questions about the "plane" that hit the pentagon really cant just be accepted. thats my view on it anyway. im done on this matter.
Only on pinkbike can a comment about expensive digital cameras can lead to discussions about terrorists and government conspiracys...
they're still pretty expensive, especially when you use them like these guys use them. Just look at that 300mm, he obviously doesn't plan to ever sell that, it's pretty worked, although I'm sure the optics are still perfect.
