Here is the absurd part of the story: I worked a lot with a mattock building trail when living in the US last year. Foolishly I thought it would be easy to pick one up when returning to Sweden. I asked around in several hardware stores but apparently no-one had ever heard of it. Googling around a bit I found a surplus place in Germany that carried old US army mattocks, I also found a retailer in UK that had heads for sale. in both cases the shipping was 3 times the price of the tool.
Abandoning the idea I want up to build in this new spot and as I was kicking around in the old cellar, lo and behold, what do I find; a mattock head! What are the odds?

That sounds like some VERY good luck. Aside from the fact they make building the trail tread like 10x easier.
