Do you mean in regards to disc brakes? If so, it means just what it sounds like. Mechanical brakes are actuated mechanically via a wire. Hydraulic disk brakes are actuated by a hydraulic piston which drives a fluid through the brake cables, causing the calliper to close. Hydraulic brakes are superior in all aspects of braking performance. Hydraulic brakes used to be considereded harder to maitenance, but that isn't always true now.
How bout 1500 for frame, shock, fork (which needs 300 dollars worth of service from fox) chainguide, bb, juicy 3 brakes, rocky mountain bars, the stem, the headset, the wheels and tires. Or 2000 for the whole thing?
not as much as most flatlines. My scale says 44, but my scale weighs everything a few pounds heavy. Anyways, the weight isn't noticeable when you ride. The bike is quite flickable and jumpable. The frames burliness provides fantastic stiffness and tracking. You also never have to worry about denting the frame
