 guys, you are all making this way to complicated. its a simple answer. Sam hill gets new tires like he gets podiums, always. Vanderham on the other hand, runs his tire for awhile, and it shows. New vs. old. Also, Sam runs specialized tires, Vanderham runs maxxis.

 He does sometimes. According to an interview in Dirt the Hill and Brendog are helping Spesh develop new tyres but they are also allowed to use any brand of tyre they like.

 like with most riders. the Athertons have been spotted on maxxis tyres even though they ride with continental. just the maxxis has been blacked out Razz

 It's no hidden fact people ride with different tyres to their sponsors... It's up to the rider, I'm sure the company would rather them win on another tyre than wash out on their tyre. Hill probably uses the Specialized tyres whenever he would use a Minion, and the Specialized wet tyres when he would have used a Wetscream.

 So you didn't know Pro's don't use their tyre sponsors tyres for racing? Have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years? For years Peaty was on Kenda but used Maxxis, that's just one rider.

 If you weren't living under a rock, you would have known pro's don't always run their sponsors tyres. I think you should care. Maybe you should take more time out to look at the pro's tyre choice than bitching on a photo.

 it will be prototype,

but if that is the rear wheel then he has the ramped side of the tyre the wrong way round, the tyre is setup for pedalling not braking. (on the right that is)

 I believe the tyre on the right is the Specialized Chunder. It's in production and has been around for a while...

 you can get better traction out of some tires if you put them on reverse, but it will roll slower
