my ano build is not light cause i was on a budget. kiran has a powdercoat large frame w/ way lighter components and his is still 39. My goal is to get it to a little over 38. But I haven't heard of many large frames getting under 38. I could be wrong
ya velcro is needed. im running the same tire set up as you but not tubeless. some schwalbe xc tires are coming in the mail that should lighten it up, along with the x.9 shifter kit. possibly tubeless in the future. how expensive is it to switch to tubeless?
easily the best V10 i have seen....saw this a few days ago but didnt quite have the words to justify it's beauty...i still dont but surely this was created by the MTB God's...dont know how you could live in all that snow when that beast is parked up in your "man cave".
Wow, it's finally done! Now the torture of waiting to ride it. And how did you get yours 2.5 pounds lighter than mine? Is the V10 frame that light? My specs are not too far from yours...
Almost 1/2 a pound difference between our pedals. I'm also tubeless, small ano frame, much shorter shock and spring, slightly lighter brake setup, lighter cassette by about 100g (looks like you have the PG 970 DH), your supertacky/3C tires are a bit heavier, slightly lighter chainguide and ring. But then again you saved weight with the WC and probably the I-Beam setup.
Thanks man, im in the process of getting a lighter headset, better/lighter brakes, and possibly the i-fly post and saddle. money is getting low tho. maybe ti spring eventually when i win the lottery
It does get pricey doesn't it. Looks like you're running tubes. You can get away with Maxxis Welter Weight tubes, if you're not already running a lighter tube. It's a cheap weight savings and can easily be swapped back to a DH tube if need be. I do run mine tubeless though. Another cheap weight savings would be velcro chainstay protector.
ha i might try out the ghetto version. cause tubeless rims are expensive. xc tubes, not tires. their pretty light. only like 400g for both i think. compared to the 1.5lb dh tubes im running now
Almost pro, but your tire info isn't lined up with the valve stems. I wish I was joking, but I automatically notice these things thanks to years and years of wrenching at high-end shops.
Like I said, it only matters to me. Racers often do it so when they get a flat during a race, it's easiest to find the valve stem in order to speed up the process.
I'm not sure where the 29 lbs came from either. Final weight after adding stans and shortening the brake lines is 36.75 lbs (will be adding a Ti spring though). I'm still amazed at the weight.
Considering Koppproduction's Medium ano frame weighs in at essentially the same as my small, I can't see it being that difficult to build a large under 39 lbs. What is your build like?
the v10 frame is so much heavier than the session frame.. they don't even compare. its hard to get a v10 to be sub 39. my v10 is about 39 and 1/2 but if i put my parts on a session no doubt it would be low 38s. it helps that this guy has a small ano v10 frame though.
The current gen V-10.3 aren't that heavy. JWMbike's stock small ano was right around the 37 or 38 mark. Kopproductions (couple posts above I believe) shows frame weight on his profile. Don't think you'll find the Trek and the SC to be all that far apart.
Trail: Huge Thanks to Eric @ Eastside Cycles in Kitchener Riders: V-10 V10 Description: Still need to shorten the brake lines, add some stans, cut the post a bit more, Ti Spring, etc...
