Probably because he was looking slightly up for landing or he's just started to compress and his head hasn't slapped yet, that would explain why he's only slightly bent his arms and legs.
Sorry, but that's such a bad photoshop too. Look at the last frame where he's landing? No time has been put into blending it at all. Also, to the people saying use your arms and legs as suspension... You realise that the first thing to compress when you land is your suspension. Then, your arms and legs with move to soak up the landing, obviously the picture was taken before he compressed. It's almost impossible to land and stay rigid.
Not the worst POD I have ever seen, but the edit is scruffy in places and being able to bottom out your shock shouldn't merit POD. But hey, they had to choose 365 worthy photos a year and yeah alot of them displease people. I don't expect them to get it bang on to everyones tastes day in day out so I will accept that this is POD today and see what tomorrow brings.
Also your legs wont start to move until they feel a force, hence not moving until the suspension is bottomed. Also your reaction time is slower then that of the suspension
Oh no! the poor bike? having to use all 8" of its travel? i really hate this rider for making this innocent structure of aluminium tubing use its full length of travel... seriosly guys, legs compress after the suspension compresses, if you dont keep a little bit rigid your going to crash. Could do with a bit more effort into the edit though.
C'mon, lots of great pics out there and you always seem to miss them. I think the guy who chooses these doesn't spend much time looking. Pinkbike fails yet again.
cool but NOT POD! this looks like a poor photoshop job to me... (1)where is the back rider's right knee & fork leg? (2)look at the front bike's shadow & the ground it's on & the join in the tape behind his head (3)the middle rider/bike is too far to the right (as we look at it) so he could not possibly be in the air there (line up the rear wheels of all 3, they should be in an arc, middle one at peak, or atleast a straight line) & (4)that guy in the back is far too camp to be at such an event... come on, attention to detail please!
the back riders knee is gone because the second rider has been faded over you oaf (2) as for the tape im guessing the camera move during the sequence and he couldn't get it to match up or , shock horror, THE TAPE WAS TWISTED!!!!!(3) as for the shadow on the ground , either what i said before( the camera moved and that was off the shot) or the bike didn't actually bottom out and he's done some clever tweaking because he noticed pinkbikes love of bottomed out photos and how often they get POD.
it aint even that great!!!! theres never any real tricks like a flear or 360 table top even i could do that jump! btw hes a noob as rider he shuld take the impact with his body
ooks like he's on the brakes on the third picture. That is the reason why he's bottoming out and why he's not using his arms and legs for suspension and is keeping his head up. Otherwise he will be flying over the bars. Visualize landing with the brakes on yourself and it will explain his weird body position.
It's quite likely that the POD selection is handled by a script that picks based on the number of views, number of favourites, and possibly the number of comments made as well.
IF that's the case, then everyone should stop complaining about what becomes the POD since it's quite likely the members of Pinkbike who are making the selection without realizing it.
And... IF that's the case, rather than complain you should put your two cents in by viewing, favouriting, and commenting on photos you think should be POD.
Hahahaha at NorcoTweek, definatly a COD (comment of the day), So he bottomed out on this drop does that mean he is a bad rider and doing this drop "badly" or "incorrectly" or is this a case of the landing area needs some re-construction to make the transition from air to ground smoother..? ( Just putting it out for peoples ideas on this, i like my track building and i would not have the landing so flat) Cheers
Wow that is an amazing photo, what are the chances of three identical looking riders all following each other down the trail? LOL............... POD! well captured MTBFoto's
the only good thing about thing about this pod is the gay guy in the background. he gave me a good laugh. this one sux not gunna lie. my grandma could drop that no problem!
The photographer was portuguese, but the rider is a spanish guy on International Maxxis Cup final: 57 - MALAVE, Alejandro - ELITE MAN 3:40.536 +34.177 (than Gee).
