I would direct your attention to the photo I took of a 2.1" SB8 slammed in my dropouts.

 How's it ride so far?

Haven't put enough time in riding it to say much, except that it feels like a Small Block, but with better braking performance.

 Ah I see, how's the slammability in comparison to a 1.95 SB8 (I assume you've tried a 1.95)?

We're kind of comparing apples and oranges in that the SB8s I've tried have no knobs (corner or top), but here goes: 2.1" SB8 has more vertical (seattube) clearance than the 1.95" and only slightly less side (chainstay/seatstay) clearance. 1.95" Kenda has 2 dimes worth of clearance, vertically. This is with no knobs, remember. The 1.95" Larsen has waaaaaaaaaaaay more side and vertical clearance than either, with full knobs. When I was at the skatepark I cased an air and heard my rim hit coping, but no pinch flat. Could be because there's pretty much no tire bulge....tiny tire on a wide (729) rim. My two cents so far.

Well that is probably one of the most helpful things I've ever encountered on Pinkbike and I thank you for that. I may just try this tire as trying to slam a 26" in a Dob is like going to an awards show and NOT having Kanye interrupt it, next to impossible... I've been getting pretty close with slamming with my new Rim (Supra D) but this tire as well as the Dobs cross section between the stays has been an issue. This may get me one step closer. That casing normally equals an end to an SB8 as well, maybe this is that tire that is an exception, or the circumstance was..

I got this tire because creamsoda told me it was absolutely tiny, and it is. My friend got his 09 Pinscher pretty close to being slammed with a 26" wheel, with some 1.9" tire off a Canadian Tire bike. On a narrower rim than a Supra too (narrower rim = taller tire).  Damn that is impressive. Now I am determined to do this. You have the 70a 1.9, correct?
  • 1 0
62a, from Cambria. I wanted to get the 70a (from blueskycycling) but shipping was waaaaay more. BlueSkyCycling.com has the 70as for ridiculously cheap.

Oh okay gotcha. Is the only difference between the 70a and 62a the TPI? Thanks for the link by the way.
  • 1 0
Nope. Both 120TPI, just like the SB8. the 62a and 70a refers to how grippy the rubber is, and by association how quickly it'll wear.

Oh I didn't know that, I will most likely purchase one soon.

I can slam my sub moar.
  • 1 0
Did you f*ck with the drops? Check my photo with a bald SB8, shit is SLAMME. The D doesn't even fit.
  • 1 0
Yes, grinded them right to the welds, it can't even get to the end because the tubing widens and prevents the hub for sliding more while being able to "clamp" or fasten to the frame. Gay.

Wicked. My dropouts are hollow on the backside so no grinding down for me, I'd like to very much though...maybe when the warranty expires I'll take a few mm off.
  • 1 0
It like, PERFECTLY DOESN'T fit. Its just too tight!! So now I'm sitting close to the begining of the drop outs because I can't take out a full link to slam it. I'm going to look into getting a single half link for my 710sl so I can run it slammed. Manuals much better, NS should do that.

It is kind of lame that they didn't change the geo at all from the Sub to the Majesty. I would liked shorter stays, lower standover, who knows what else. But the frame as is kicks ass, sooo strong and light. One invisible dent and counting.

HOLLOW DROP OUTS WUT? And what? I thought the Maj had different geo and was lighter.

I totally thought the cs was shorter. w/e. Have you ever riden a Tonic? omfg

I definitely want to. My friend got an OG Trailking, which is like 14.7" (with a 2.35" SBCool and it would feel amazing if it weren't for the 23.5" top tube. A Fall Guy with a righteous build would be fantastic though...14.25" CS....

I rode Noah's Tonic and it was heaven.
