haha, thats nuts, i just never understand why people have always been putting down 888's. as far as im concerned they are super reliable and bombproof.

how many people racing the world cup do you see running a 888?

flag sniperbob02 (Jul 10, 2010 at 9:50)
not much cuz all the guys running UCI are sponcerd. The biggest compagny being sram (because they make every component on your bike that you need) thats why they are so big, can sponserd more poeple and fox is the second biggest one and got suspention for every type off vehicul so them too can sponcer a lot of rider. On the other part marzocchi is only doing suspention for MX and bikes and 08 and 09 werent there year (even if I run a 888 WC 09 and the ONLY downpoint being the weight) and before that they were too heavy to put them for racing. with the 2010 out, slowly but surely youll se more of them comming out

and dont get me wrong 2010 boxxer are great but they are not has strong or has plush has the new 888 evo ti and the 40 is a strong has the 888 but the 888 is lighter than the 40...

the 40 is more plush and fox has the warranty in the business, yes 0.22 pounds lighter. that is not enough to make the shit reputation, crap service, and the NOT AS PLUSH FEEL (i have felt them at the marzocchi tent they are nothing special and that was the one they have at their tent)

over small bumps its not like the 2010 40 got the way to go sry ... BOS yes but for the price... and I dont comapar the plushness of the 40 vs 888... its boxxer vs 888 and the marzocchi compagny got bought buy toneco a great suspetion compagny ... the air sprung like in any fork got replace for a more reliable oil sprung and its not like you can try a fork just by compressing it in a tent ... Razz yes it has a crappy reputation but its not the same guys anymore ...

you can feel how a fork goes through its travel on the marzocchi test bike though... if it doesnt feel good on flat ground how could it feel better on a real trail.

and btw marzo now got 3 years of warenty compare to 2 of sram (dunno for fox) and my 66 09 dont feel good at all on flat but going big in ruff stuff it feels way better then my 08 totem that feel really great on flat.

its like with the high speed/ low speed compression, damping, liniarity (dunno how to spell it) friction, all that stuff so yeah you really have to go on a trail and try it

its a personnal choice but yeah if you can ride one one day give it a try you never know Wink cuz Ive talk to some guys why they changed the 2010 40 for evo ti and they say they tried it and it feels so much better than they didnt go back so yeah

flag sniperbob02 (Jul 10, 2010 at 21:54)
yeah but you can imagine 6 years later on the technology Razz its like the older 40 (dunno about the 2010 but like the older model 06,07 maybe some other years, werent that reliable. thats what scared me for not buying a 40. and yeah rockshox really suck lol. all sram components execpt the x9 derailleur/shifter and the 991 crosstep chain stand up. hussefelt crank and huzfeller crank, the bearing are useless and the pedals get loose on the hussefelt, pg970 casset got destroyed in road riding, totem is always under servicing, vivid are unreliable ... Razz not a fan... really not a fan Razz
