Yep I have a pike 426 sitting I'm my basement because i hate it. been too lazy to sell it.

flag jonlake (Jun 20, 2010 at 17:35)
the new Argyle is essentially a rebranded pike, and a 831 is lot more flexy then the pike. a lowered pike with a X-firm spring is pretty much an ideal fork for street/dirt.

flag c-bernier (Jun 20, 2010 at 17:38)
Actually the argyle RCT is the same as "pargyle"

flag dchill (Jun 20, 2010 at 17:40)
Disagree a lowered 36 is the best. I will sell my pike for cheap with the firm and X-firm springs

and a pargyle is just a pike with argyle lowers, which is only a cosmetic change!
  • - 3
flag c-bernier (Jun 20, 2010 at 18:22)
 Actually its lighter as well...

flag jonlake (Jun 20, 2010 at 18:26)

Wtf,then why does everyone always go how pargyles are the best thing ever because there so much lighter and stronger then normal. Facepalm
  • + 3
flag dkidd (Jun 21, 2010 at 9:13)
people used to... they don't any more. The forks probably feel better, because they would be re-lubed when put back together, but that's all that would change.

flag dustingilding (Jun 21, 2010 at 19:23)
A Pargyle IS a pike, it is no lighter, no stronger. The Argyle RCT is a re-branded pike, however the valving has been slightly modified, and yes i am a reliable source, i talked to Sram about it at Sea Otter.

Kid, stop listening to what "everyone" says and do some research before claims like it's lighter and stronger.

The 831 is mildly flexier, but if you aren't a hack is perfectly fine, I'll be riding one this season so a full review on that will have to checked up on later, however i anticipate it will be excellent, after briefly riding others.

Stay classy San Diego

the RTC is just as much a re-branded fork as the 831. its a float 32 with new valving/ slightly different damping.

flag i-eat-dirt (Nov 23, 2010 at 18:55)
Older argyles used steel steerers, stanchions, and upper crowns. Pikes used aluminum steerers, stanchions, and upper crowns. The lowers of pikes and argyles were both magnesium, so color and decals are the main difference in the lowers (there may be a slight weight difference). If you took an argyle and added pike uppers it would be lighter than a standard argyle. If you took a pike and added argyle uppers, you would have a heavier fork than a standard pike. The new argyle uses aluminum uppers and steerers, but it still uses steel stanchions. I'm not 100% sure about the RCT but according to the website it uses steel stanchions. Therefore, you could still save a little bit of weight by switching to aluminum stanchions, but that is where the flex comes into play. I had a 2005 pike team and a 2007 argyle 409. I definitely noticed the weight difference between the two.

are 719s strong enough? Im thinking about running them in the front of my pinscher, but dont know how long they'll hold up.
also what did they do to the le pink? rear end is different?
that dob is soo nice!

flag dkidd (Jun 21, 2010 at 13:27)
good front rim, lace it well, and its solid in the rear too... you might wanna go for a 521 rear.
they increased the tire tolerance in the rear triangle.

flag luckynumber13 (Jun 21, 2010 at 13:42)
 i was thinking 719 front 721 rear
what's the weight on the 521 and how do they compare strength-wise?
how much more clearance is there?

flag dkidd (Jun 21, 2010 at 13:55)
 weight- 1/2 btw. 719 and 721
strength -1/2 way between
cost: 1/2 of either.
