i'm tired of seeing people bitching about whether the pod deserves to be pod or not, it is pod, so suck it up and deal with it, theres always a new one tomorrow, complaining accomplishes absolutely nothing. This is an awesome shot, great lighting too!
Whe white balance needs (slight) correction, too much green. The vignetting is distracting. Editing isn't great IMO. Lighting is ok, coulda used a longer exposure though. Get the obstacle into view! what exactly is making that fork bottom out? We can't really see it. Good photo, but there is room for improvement IMO
very cropped too, but i suppose that can't be helped in some situations... but still... the nikon d3 is a pro body, why does this photo look so... un sharp?
This picture is not POD because of the action taking place, but the setting.
I have seen putting greens less lush than this, it's just sooo green!
Very well composed pic, shopped or not, looks awesome!
that's more extreme then it looks! his front forks are bottoming and he hasn't even dropped or rolled off that rock yet! Beautiful colors, the temperate rain forest is soo beautiful and unique. And the photographer captured the beautie quite well.
Every mountain bike should have bars that wide. Seriously, try it. So much more control. I put 29.5 bars on my girlfriends cross country bike, and she loves it. She is also a much better/faster rider because of it. It actually makes her Specialized Pitch fun for me to ride too. I will never ride with bars narrower than 28 inches for the rest of my life.
Yeah, you are right. His bars definitely look wider than 30. Maybe too wide. There is a happy medium. I think it occurs between 28 and 31 inches depending on rider size, and style. Obviously less for really small riders, kids, and dirtjump bikes.
Sometimes it's just nice to see someone riding though. No race, no crazy tricks just a lush trail. Personally these photos get me the most stoked to ride.
Just a reminder... The western part of Washington State is only about half-an-hour south of Vancouver. We've got very similar terrain, geology and flora. How about this picture? Doesn't look that different from the 'shore. www.pinkbike.com/photo/3012937
I think the point is that the original comment "you cant get anything close to this in the states" is completely false. There are many trails in Oregon and Washington that look exactly like this. Does BC have a better bike scene, and more riding options than the U.S? Yes, I definitely think so. But we do still have sick trails, just not as many of them. Our trails are also spread around the country, but the only good riding I've heard of in Canada is in BC. Correct me if I'm wrong. The U.S. will eventually have a much better riding scene than Canada, we just have too many stupid organized sports to distract people who would grow up to be sick bikers if their fathers didn't push them into football and basketball.
How quickly people forget places like Black Rock and Post Canyon in Oregon as well. Tyson, maybe you should try riding here before commenting on what "isn't here."
