Thanks! We're getting ready for the PinkBike visit later this summer... polishing up the trails closest to town. No work today as we woke up to snow (June 30th !!!!).
yeah a bit crazy waking up to snow, but the elevation is almost 4000 feet in Wells and higher where the trails are. Only 35 frost-free days average per year! The bridge is pretty wide, 30", so not too bad but you don't want to fall. My biggest problem is the water. The entire sidehill is wet and there are small streams below the moss and surface growth. As soon as you remove any material it's all muddy and unstable. Only solution is to build these long sidehill bridges. The trees are small and not suited for cutting planks, so we have to cut and carry them in from further up the trail.
Awesome work!! Your diligents is well respected! I know how hard it is to haul wood all the way up or down the mountain. Its not easy but once you have a beautiful work of art for everyone to ride and enjoy its awesome!! The mud and water is somthing that always takes place and is a mess to deal with but Im sure you have taken proper measures. Here in Japan I have a bad problem with moss as we have high humidity and heavy rain all year round. here is a trail work video cleaning some moss!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GWJ_TgSzC8 Ride On!
No nikoniko, we have lots of moss on the ground, but the type that turns a forest into a magical place and makes you feel like you're riding through a fantasy movie.
Thanks for your kind words!
