if you look at the other pics it is. its during race practise and he obvs took the corner too sharp, back end slipped out and he has fallen against the rock.
it's too gloopy to have roost. i know the photographer and i know how sharp his pics are. any good camera will give a crisp shot of a spinning wheel. also you do not brake going round a corner :/ or any good rider doesn't anyway.
its a sick concept for a photo, but theres no chance in hell that he didnt get splatter on his camera with the tire spinning.....plus those pine needles look a little too stuck to the tire to be riding full speed
Also it looks like there's a puddle in the background, it looks pretty still with no splash etc, and he's staring at his wheel for some reason, most people tend to look where they're going...
Wow, shot with an 8mm too, your lens must have been about 2-3 inches from his tyre i'm guessing. Foot on the ground, elbow on the rock, no roost at all, no blur, even in the shadows, no fingers on the brake, I'm going to agree with edd and guess he's not moving at all, otherwise you would have been in the direct path of impact and probably wrecked your camera if not yourself...
I find it hard to believe he got THAT close but I also find it hard to believe that a rider in the masters category would mess around like that during practise of the scottish champs =/
I don't know the course at all but looking at the ground it doesn't even really look like a trail that's been ridden lately. If it was that soft and wet my thought would be that there would be some good ruts and tire tracks underneath him...
Ha ha, I would have thought by now everyone knows that ALL Keiths images are shot in a studio in Edinburgh and make heavy use of chroma key backgrounds, levers, pulleys, pyrotechnics and employ really small people dressed as foliage to create a feeling of movement through the medium of dance...........
