Yak peak! We've all driven past it on our way threw the coquihalla, and thought that we should hit it. Kudo's on manning up and given'r Tippie. You were killing it back in the day, and you're still killing it!
^If you have ever seen this rock in person you would rethink what you just said. This rock is HUGE, well over 300 ft tall, and it's alot steeper than it looks in this picture. And BRETT TIPPIE is the one doing it, one of the originators of freeriding, one of the FRO three. He's also the first one to ride this rock face due to it's steepness and length. Brett Tippie would deserve a POD even if he was dropping of a curb.
Also, this rock face is actually used for rock climbing, and is very well known for that. So to ride something that you need cables and ropes to climb up is impressive.
Also for thso interested, this is what they're riding. Not sure how high they went to ride it though...
i always see this rock face on my way to Vancouver and i always think of how intense it would be to ride down but id never do it. so you mrtippie have balls.
This is why I love Brett Tippie. I could hear him laughing all the way to the bottom... From Whistler!
The craziest thing is, as big as this is, with the photo as sick as it is, the photo still doesn't do justice to how insane this is. The wall is ridiculous. Or RIDEiculous really.
Looking forward to riding with you next week!
Ken
thanks for the multiple posts Cdubt... we got it, you think it's lame.
if we're here judging the photo: riders sorta too far off in the distance but I have ridden stuff like that out in Moab, it's a lot harder than it looks and if you slide out, it's like landing on sandpaper (well, at least in Moab it is). par for course, photos can't show how steep the rock slope really is. looking at it, I bet it's steep as a hoot, totally scKhechty.
Awesome! For all you doubters you should google "Yak Peak" then you will see how rowdy it is. It's something every mountain biker in BC has driven by for 20+ years wondering if part of it is rideable. He rode 2/3rds of it. Good on ya for popping its cherry!!!! I love you Tippie!
mulchee, that says it right there. It looks like one of those slopes where if you lose traction and fall, you may slide, faster and faster, possibly off a ledge or into a crack. There's more to this photo than meets the eye.
superdj.. Even if it were all in the picture, there would still be more to it than meets the eye, as there is for every picture you see. The colours are good, the focus is sharp, it's not over or underexposed, the thing he's riding is purely insane, this photo touches a lot of people who have seen that rock face and dream of riding it. I would say that it's a respectable biking pod. But, that's just my opinion, to each their own.
redbullman34, buddy. you couldnt even walk this thing if you had 50 legs. doesnt make sense I know but you still couldnt do it. take a gander at the bigger picture.
nice! i remember watching the first Kranked on VHS when i was a kid and seeing Brett Tippie back in the day ripping with Wade Simmons and Richie Schley. good to see Brett still havin fun.. best pod in awhile.
You guys are thinking really narrow-mindedly. POD is not just based on the difficulty of the rider's move...It's also based on the choice of scenery, the difficulty or uniqueness of the shot, the lighting, many other factors etc. If you have a backyard that looks just like that, I'll be damned and remain corrected. But even if you did, then you couldn't really complain anyway.
