i love the dust trail that is left behind that has covered the track, that shows you he was moving at a good speed. hence why this was sick because you need some balls do that.

great picture, but personally it doesnt captivate me in the way i feel a POD should. definitly not bagging the shot tho, just not POD material for me.

i think there are alot more shots on this site that stand out for me. this just looks like a generic DH pic. doesnt do much for me. i think that the POD is used too much for boosting riders profiles in Canada, than it is for showing off photography and riders skills combined, from all over the world. for example http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/5141165/ something like this. im not spamming that pic, its merely an example. just my opinion.

This photo is sharp, with great colours, great timing and taken in tough conditions (heavy dust and sun), it is a 1 off opportunity in a race, not a staged photo, but a real life race photo of someone looking focused, high up in the sky, it shows the take off and the landing lips, the run in captures the conditions well in terms of the dust and is sharp to look at the condition of the landing with marks from people coming up short (so shows commitment). If you look at the dust it also shows you the wind conditions also. This photo tells a story.
As for photo 5141165, real nice pic, but was this try 50 with 3 hours of setup time and only done trying to get his shot? Who knows, the picture does not tell a story.
Just my opinion.

yip im not gonna disagre and you definitly raise valid points there. i still stand for my own opinion though, and part of that was that it is a good picture. i just dont think it was POD material. thats all i have to say about that. cheers.

What I want to know is why you feel it neccessary to say "not pod material" at all. Even if that is how you feel, theres no need to say it. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. It's not like pinkbike will suddenly decide to change the pod because of you. So shut your mouth, the photographer is probably stoked to get pod and you come along and say something like that.

Definitely a very cool picture! POD worthy? I don't know, but I'm not going to bitch about it though because maybe there will be one I like more tomorrow....... Its picture of the DAY. Nothing worth crying about if you don't like it.
