Hi Richierocket, totally agree with ya statement above, but i'd just like to give you the right numbers, the Nicolai is actually 2.3 billion times better than the Racelink,FACT,Ha-ha. Seriousley though m8,the Racelink will always be a legend in it's own right, individual, bombproof, handbuilt, eccentric,a rock-garden dominator, and through the Jackshaft system does a rather good job of making this cromoly behemouth of a bike a pretty good peddler under the circumstances. But unfortunately these two rigs can't be compared with each other as there is no competition between them, for out and out DH ability the Nicolai stands on it's own in this respect, handbuilt, german engineered, proven Rohloff driven gearbox, aluminium frame, with ya simple proven triangulated 4 bar linkage, which untold amounts of companies are using at the minute, including Transition bikes,Rocky Mountain Switche's The fact of the matter is i'm a huge B.M.W fan,i love the Race link, and the FQ Mini link. But even i have to take my hat off to Nicolai on this bike it's been really thought through,C.O.G is perfectly situated in the beautiful frame set.Even a die hard fan like yourself wantBMW would have to give credit were credit is due,Nicolai have came through bigtime with this rig,and i wish them the best of luck, that's my un-biased rant over. Gary.
Looks great, enjoying that angular style and colour scheme. Gearbox looks compact and out of the way. Not had a chance to ride any Nicolai bikes but having seen them in the flesh they are works of art. I’m not saying that most other decent DH bikes are completely disposable but I would cry if I crashed this beauty.
Last weekend rode this bike for about 8 downhill runs, and it is awesome! The first run on it I was already faster than with my own Glory DH. Shifting while coasting is awesome, because you can have the perfect gear for pedalling out of the corner. The weight is absolutely not a problem, because it's in the right place (central and low). It rides awesome on fast tracks, but also on technical, slower tracks. Especially on this technical tracks the shifting is perfect because there's not always room for pedalling. What makes you extremely confident on the bike, is that it doesn't make any sound. The only thing you hear is the sand shredding out of the corners, and your tires touching the rocks and roots. Summarized: I want this bike!!
