itl be awsome when it runs but when i doesnt it will drive you and the fam insane for sure, things like that are ment to be either fully restored or let die.some of the parts on that thing are probably worth as much as a car espechily since you have no where to get them
My dad put it to me like this: "I am happy to fix rubber seals, hoses, and simple inexpensive repairs, but if you break anything major and expensive, that's it, we're leaving it there."
Oh yeah, well I found a crack.... and a dent..... and a family of flies..... and some broken glass. Hahahaha. These things cost a f*cking fortune new, beggars can't be choosers.
Free as long as we can get it out of there!! Needs a battery though. We had to jump start it with the Jeep LOL. We will probably have to pay a bit for my buddy's dad to float it over too.
Well, I can't find prices for a new one, but a used 2007 model that is only 3/4 of the size of the above one sells for $45,000 CAD. A new one that is the equivalent of mine would probably be in the neighborhood of 80K.
Haven't floated it over to my place yet. Better project for the later part of the season. It's not going anywhere though (unless we move it), because my dad is the only one left in the family that knows how to run and maintain this beast. It will be at my place before the winter hits, but I won't have it restored until next season.
Thanks bro. This is what my dad does for a living, so it's in good hands. It's a big project though (about 25 tons), so neither of us are in a rush because of how much work is going to be involved. We have gathered most of the supplies we need to fix it up, so it's just a matter of my dad calling in a favor to hook up a transport truck with float.
I sense a lot of painting and small repairs first LOL. Hopefully we can get it painted and working before frost hits. We still have to dig for now, but this is the light at the end of the tunnel. Viva la Goat Path.
I would happily do it for them if they float it over there and back and pay for gas. Note to Joyride: You should hire me!! LOL. I have no experience and I am reckless.
Yes we are. My dad just has to arrange the float to get it over there and we have to fix a few minor things. Runs fine but doesn't steer yet LOL (needs oil).
Needs rust paint to slow the already occurring rust. Walter is stupid, he entombed it in plastic wrap for many years until my dad told him not to and it rusted everything. EVERYTHING!!!
It might be getting sold. I was talking to my dad about it and we don't have room to properly use it at Goat Path. Shit was tight when I rented the skidsteer. I can only imagine how useless this thing would be after a month of use (no more space). If it doesn't get sold, it may still come my way.
The issue is that it's my uncle's to sell. I see it like this: If he has the chance to sell it and make a few dollars, he might as well. I don't quite have the room to put it to good use for more than a few months. I would be greedy to take it at this point if there is genuine interest.
Fully stock except for clam shell bucket and a few minor repair welds LOL. It probably burns more gas than 2 Escalades and it runs on both diesel and gas (for the starter).
That's not relevant to the point i was making though. three-chillies-design said that "there is no better tool for digging in trails" to which i replied actually there is because apart from moving dirt around you cant really do much else with a dozer. An excavator for example would be a much better piece of machinery to use. Dont get me wrong though i wouldnt turn down the opportunity to use one
The clam shell bucket gives me a bit of an advantage over a regular dozer blade in that I can move around and place dirt strategically. Any other heavy machinery would cost a shitload of $$$$$$$ and I'm not down with that. This dozer is free. Definitely a step up from the Mexican Backhoe I have been using this season.
You can dig and cart it at the same time. It makes the job easier. And it pushes, which an excavator cant do. But dont get me wrong they are great too. They all beat a shovel :-) I own 2 excavators 1 possi track plus shit loads more, but not one of those bad boys. Jealous shit yeh and for free :-)
Trail: ???? Riders: Moi soon. Description: I guess you could call this my birthday present. Almost 60 years old but still runs. She needs some minor TLC and lots of paint, but we got it running today. Just have to arrange a float and this will be the new Goat Path toy. I am going to build LARGE mounds of dirt for bicycles with this. :)
