the train got there cos it was derailed from the track up ontop od the valley side then it fell lots down into the valley bootom and it couldnt be moved so locals made a track - i think
just to clear it all up. Way back in the day before heli logging and such. Logging was done VIA rail road. So a temp rail line was made. Forest was logged, when they left they took what ever they could. Chances are this rail car broke down and it wasn't worth the effort to move, so they just left it. This is what i think. I've seen similar structures before. A lot of forest on Van Island is littered with old rail lines and such.
Unless 20 feet to the right is like a major highway, or rail yard. HAHA
There's a few cars i think they went off the rails at some point, hence the name "Train Wreck", best guess like knobzy said is that they re-pulled their tracks and abandoned the wrecked cars behind
yeah, i read an article on it some time ago which said there was a train crash/derailment and some of the cars rolled down the hill, to the right there is a working rail track up a banking.
I work for a railway, and it is actually quite common for them to just leave cars after a derailment. I know of 5 or 6 different spots where this has happened.
ΟΚ, i think this is the train that is in the back country of Whistler, OUTSIDE the bike park. Whistler community has built hundrends of trails around the park and they have managed to fit in the trails this train that went off the tracks, a few hundrends feet above, many years ago. I read an article about this in "Mountain Biking UK" magazine..
The train car had derailed on the way from Vancouver to whistler and slid into a gully(so they could not get the cars out and they were left on a forest incline). There are 3 train cars made into jump lines, the first is the biggest.
It was too difficult to remove the cars so they actually dragged them deeper into the woods. When you go there they seem odly plced and far from the tracks.
There are more than 3 cars, and there were only jumps off two of them when we shot this. It's a Canadian Pacific freight that derailed in the 1960s. Theres a whole trail loop that ends/begins at the traincars called "runaway train" and it's a pretty awesome xc trail.
Now, this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I liked to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air
In west Philadelphia born and raised On the playground is where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys Who were up to no good Startin making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'
I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror If anything I can say this cab is rare But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'
I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later' I looked at my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air
VOD? kind sir i think you ment to type the letters POD, seeing that VOD stands for video of the day, and POD stands for picture of the day. upon further investigation i realized that this is in fact a picture, so the title of POD whould fit it better. I realized your humble mistake and thought i might correct it.
