This is sorta weird because you have a similar setup to what my new Demo will be like same colour frame, black boxxers, raceface cranks.....lovin' the bike mate. Are you running an 83mm raceface BB or are you using the adaptor spesh supply?
Im using a standard raceface 83mm bb with the adapters they give you. They are a pain in the ass to use though. If raceface makes a PF30 bb then I would deffinatly reccomend getting that. The adapters they use are cheap plastic and they are a bitch to press in with the cups threaded in already. just a horrible design. So yeah, if you can, avoid the adapters. But they are manageable if you have to use them.
Kewl, cheers for that. I'll keep an eye out for these PF30 bb's. In the mean time i've spoken to Spesh UK who will replace these adaptors if I have any probs with them. I've been hearing people having issues with fitting the back wheel, something to do with the hub. What hubs are you running? Did you have any problems putting the back wheel on?
yeah I had to file down my hub and dremmil out the frame a tiny bit. I am running sun ringle jumping flea hubs but the same thing hapened with my buddies azonic hubs. Just file down your hub until the axle lines up properly. doesnt really compromise strength too much. dremmil the little ridge off the frame of you want to, but that is a bit more risky.
must have forgot to mention that little part were you filed the frame away with a dremel in the add. I would be pissed if i buy a frame and somebody did something like tha and never told me
Hey dick wrangler, I didnt just go hacking away with a dremmil . The specialized dealer where I bought it from sanded the paint off the axle shoulder (with a fine grit dremmill wheel for maximum accuracy) and dremmilled my hub so the axle would fit properly. No metal on the frame was ever filed off or anything and it was done with extreme precision. Specialized headquarters gave the shop the procedure and it was done according to factory standards and warranty regulations. I think you will find about 95% of these demos have had the same procedure done to them. It doesnt void any warranty and it compromises zero strength. It simply sands off a little extra paint on the axle shoulder to accomodate certain hubs.
And yeah, I bet you would be pissed if you bought a frame that had all of the factory procedures already done to it, so it was running mint when you got it. God, that would be a real shitshow...
Such a beautiful bike dude! Btw im visiting seattle in july and looking for a specialized dealer to buy this frame... Can you please give me some recommendations?
I bought this from a dealer down in Vancouver, WA. I know the guys that work down there so the gave me a good deal. But as for dealers in seattle Im not really sure, You can probably use the dealer locater on specialized's website to find one. I know a bunch down in the Portland area, but I dont really know of any good specialized shops in Seattle.
