One of the cool parts about street riding is that you see so many places. You travel to all the big cities (for me all over the world) to ride through the streets with friends and find and shred spots. Why I prefer street over any other riding style is that you need a lot of originality to find sick lines, which are not designed for being ridden. I think dirt is also fun, but if I've ridden the same line 5 times I'm bored with it. I just like the originality and the sick hidden lines in the streets and that every single spot is different But it's all personal who prefers what
I personally prefer the creativity and the diversity of the streets over riding only one line. But each to his own In the end we're all riding bikes and it's all one love
i suppose thats a good point, but with dirt you use your own imagination to built your own stuff and then to make different lines. but yeah you cant really compare them, the both similar, but completly different. but yeah you hit the nail on the head, all about personal preffences.
For sure! To be honest I had an idea kind of like that before. In my town there would be so many sweet spots if I'd bring a shovel (create huge gaps, wallrides, etc). I should really do that one it stops raining/snowing
even tho he knew what he was doing accidents still happen, and the only way you can learn to build is by building, and tbh you have more chance having a bad accident in street then dirt, not alot more of a chance, but its still there.
uuuuuuuuuh what? what makes dirt any safer to fall on that street? when you ride dirt you go very fast and very high... not nearly as fast or as high as you would riding street... don't get me wrong, dirt is one of my favourite things to ride, just don't understand why you would think that.
Iv gone pretty dam fast from pretty dam high riding street, no doubt lower than you would over a dj but 10 feet to angled dirt landing, or 10 feet to flat concrete?
put it to yo this way... i had to ride a jamis... went through three little whoops- jumped the first two then over the third and after it was this ricky trail tht went right into a berm and i totaly mesed up and landed on my shoulder ripping skin off and breaking my thumb... and i went rite up the berm...and it sucked because the stupid jamis dakarbam cant do shit... not offend those who have it but tht bike sucks dick over jumps and drops... bits its good in the rocks i must say.
yep ive had a hole in my arm and very little skin on my hand from coming off riding street but dirt i shatterd my sholder and colar bone just need to wreck on park n ill be complete haha
exactly... i honestly think it compensates for each other, you can't say that one is "worse" to fall on than the other.. it completely depends on your level of riding, if you think you don't get just as hurt riding dirt i question the size of the jumps you're riding.
ok, guys, after getting messages about this for the last week I was hoping you'd realise that you're arguing over apples & pears. You can fall fukkin hard on trails, street, park & in the mountain on a BMX or DH rig, skateboard, motorbike, rollerblades, hell, even just on your feet doing parkour, so give it a rest already. It's not where you fall so much, but more about how you fall.
i hope you realise that this isnt an argument, it is a simple disscussion no one is getting angry and irratable, just discussing the pro's and con's of the riding terrain and sharing our thoughts and views on the matter.
isnt that what pinkbikes for? discussing thoughts and view with other people from the mountian bike community?
sick pic! but as long as you can chill and ride with friends . and have fun in what you do,.. i say do it.! doesn't matter if it's on the street on the dirts or in a bikepark .. ride till you die!
Street may be no dig, but often it's years of experience, knowing where the spots are at. Skavenging the city for somewhere safe and fun to ride, not losing the spot, and sometimes even modifying a spot to work. You can put jumps anywhere virtually with dirt, but street takes time to establish a scene.. I'm all for it, but street takes more than a shovel and some ideas to do.
street can be nice and all but i like dirt and dh. and @ mzk1997- ill love to hear about when u die because ur head cracked in half when u fell off of a wall!
yah you might of never heard of sarcasm DownHillCooper, because i always wear a helmet, i was saying that cause people who ride street never use helmets, people who ride dirt and dh actually use helmets so they dont kill themselves
im very sarcastic. if u knew me better u would know! lol im just saying tht because... well... i admit it; it was a fail to try to make the point that so many people hurt themselves wen they dont wear helmets.... so it was a stupid comment... but u got to understand were im coming from here.
screw you guys i f*cking love street, i find new things to ride and different lines everytime i ride. my options are endless, riding stuff not meant to be ridden, thats where i get my thrill.
digging is half the fun!! but theres not really much street where i live so its either park or dig.. but theres always the possibility of finding buried treasure when you dig
Street is good but trails is better. Being in the countryside and chilling out in the woods having a BBQ and a beer, no pollution, just fresh air, riding crazy lines, going fast and getting massive airtime, not having to worry about cars and pedestrians or people cutting you up, nobody to tell you what you can't ride. Digging is part of the fun I think. It gives you something to do when the weather is shit and riding your own stuff is really satisfying. Street does have some good stuff about it though. You can ride whenever you like, if it's rained or when it's dark. You don't have to worry about people tearing down your jumps. Street is more accessible for most people too.
Haha I guess that's a difference between us, I LOVE big cities High speed brakeless slaloming between pedestrians is also a lot of fun too The faster you go the less chance you'll hit someone and the more they get shocked Also last time a car blocked my route (he wasn't watching) so I bunnyhopped over his hood Street and dirt both have it's ups and downs, but in the end we all share the same passion
Dirtjumps go up, and down. In assorted hights, direction, and angles. Street goes...well I don't know cause you never know untill your staring at it thinking "now how the f*ck am I going to pull this one off"
