Each one I do takes roughly 10 hours from start to finish. The painting actually takes the longest, the actual carving goes pretty quickly once I have the design stenciled on the wood. I don't sit down for a solid 10 hours either and bang it out, its usually an hour here, and hour there, half hour there etc, etc....Its fun, keeps the mind and hands busy during the winter, good time to tinker and create things.
I used a Dremel tool with a few different sized tips and carved it outta the block of wood. Its hard to see in this pic, but the spiral design is probably close to a half inch deep in the wood. Im gonna try and take another pic of it on an angle so you can see the depth of it better. After I was done with the carving I burned it with a torch and then painted it up.
