this is a fail,i'm sorry but judging by the size of the box jumps on the far side and the stairs to the roll in,no one would go near that foam pit man,the ramp and drop in are way to big,not to mention, who puts a foam pit up in the air?

I wouldn't be designing it if I didn't think it would work! Also you've only seen it from one angle so its decieving! Furthermore that is a pump track on the far side and I would definatley do it (because its for MTB) and others would, as explained in comments below there will be levels in the roll in (its not just hollow) if people like you are unwanting to go superbig first time. Besides thats a berm the size of a vert ramp underneath the foam pit therefore resulting in the foam pit being in "in the air," in your case! The foam pit may be lowered as well if you go on a lower level in the roll in. On a final reason who is going to fill a foam pit full of cubes and air bags that would then be 8 meters tall if it was on the floor!

Ok, I'll make a basic list.
-How the hell are you supposed to wheel a bike up a staircase that steep and skinny?
-How are "noobs" going to use a foam pit like that when the roll in is nearly vert?
-What is the point of that kind-of-a-pumptrack-but-not-really?
-How are you going to utilize the teeny tiny quarters on top of the foam pit?
-If someone gets badly injured in that foam pit and can't move, how is someone supposed to get them out?
-Once you get in the foam pit, you're stuck.

OK I'll make a basic reply
-You will walk up the stairs without your bike as it will be attached to a gear system which I still have 2 design on sketchup and install as I haven't had enough time yet. The gear system will a be a long cogged chain that is driven around 2 big gears that are powered by an old fashioned boat steering wheel which the rider will turn when he reaches the level. Or however I haven't yet decided but a gym bike which would be connected up. You would also clip your bike into a wheel binder (a bit like the whistler lifts have) which it will automatically clip into when pressed against the wheel binder (in fact I think on 1 of the stroked vids he had a rack on his car a bit like this wheel binder. The wheel binder would also be attached 2 the long cogged chain that is up aganist the roll in tower!

-The roll in is not nearly vertical it is just as steep as Corby skateparks resi (in England) and angle it is shot from portrays it as being this steep!

-The pump track an'it finished and there will be other halls n the pump would be used 4 coaching if any one wanted a lesson or training!

-These tiny quaters my friend is to the make the foam pit into a step up if someone thinks that they've got an AWERSOME trick dialled, the foam pit would be covered with a floor making them carry onto the quarters. There would also be a huge transition down/up from the left quarter to the left quater next 2 it on the ground floor!

-Don't worry did think of that as well there will be steps up to the foam pit level on the right of the pit. They just need to be built along with the other parts!

there will be an air bag underneath the foam to take of space and allowing the rider to roll to the egde of the pit. Besides there will be a rope on the ceiling like a crane almost which they would use to take out their bike if they struggle like (a dirt bikers pit)
Also I need to install a ramp at the end of that foam pit (that is the same width as the foam pit). Your'll see some where along the way if you keep on looking at my next progress photos of the skatepark.

If your wonderiing why there is such a large scale the reason is so that MTB can ride the skate park as easily as BMX would with a normal 1. So basically the scale is the same.

ANY MORE QUESTIONS!

what if some kid named cam doesn't have enough speed for the foam pit and lands flat and breaks her back

flag LukeCowley77 (Mar 5, 2011 at 1:14)
it ISN'T finished yet hence why it is "in progress" also there would be a bridge between the ramp n foam pit. All the ramps will be adjustable with limps (height and steepness) the foam pit will be able to move up and down so every person can hit it. With the roll in not everyone will go from the top. There will be diffenert levels to roll in from as the whole roll in tower isn't completely hollow inside, hence the stairs! N no one would go from the top of the roll in even if they wanted (except classified pros) as they would have to do a series of tests to get to the top level on it. N IF THEY BOTTLED IT I WOULD PUT A BRIDGE ACROSS FROM THAT RAMP TO THE FOAM PIT WITH PADING ON THE TOP!

what if people hit the bottom of the foam pit in the half pipe section below it and how do you get down from the foam pit?
  • + 1
flag LukeCowley77 (Mar 5, 2011 at 10:10)
Do you mean if they hit the side of the half pipe (don't worry just needs to smoothed out, just haven't had time) or if they ride it (cuase its mean't to be a berm the size of a vert ramp!) because I do not know what you mean 2 intend with the word "hit".

also "- Don't worry did think of that as well there will be steps up to the foam pit level on the right of the pit. They just need to be built along with the other parts!"

stairs to the roll in? if your gonna do this go big with an elevator..

flag LukeCowley77 (Mar 5, 2011 at 1:22)
yeah did think about it but financial costs would then be to high to run the skate park! Also as listed on the bottom comment there is a reason for the stairs as each set goes to different levels. Besides once you've hit the foam pit you can walk back around to you foam pit level roll in (only from the top level at the moment) so access isn't that hard (there will be more do not worry.
