Your forks bent, was it at the crown? I hit a road gap and fekd it right up , basically ended up with one leg about 15mm higher than the other,crown took the hit and twisted. And to answer your Q about trips, check out my rig. ; )

Alrite bud. Yeh exactly the same happened to mine. I thought it was the steerer tube but when I took it off the bike it was fine. It was the crown/black bit that that seemed to buckle/twist when I crashed. ; (. Poorly built forks I think!!.
