The irony of having an "infocus" photo - 3/4 of which is out of focus. Sometimes I like the use of the out of focus foreground but for me this is a little too much. The portion of the photo that is in focus is great though.
agree about too much foreground... it actually makes me feel claustrophobic looking at this! well timed though, and as cranxwork said the bit that is in focus is crisp and looks great.
IDK, I kinda like it... its like your just chillin takin a break sittin in the grass and you look over and see this guy just chode slamming his bike around the corner.
Like the faded light but bit bored huge foreground shots, this works better if you crop most the forground out and have it landscape, the riders back whee sits nicely on the right hand third then and leads you into the rest of the picture.
There have been some great PODs in recent days/weeks and Infocusmtb have some good shots in the library, but unfortunately this doesn't do anything for me. As others have said the composition feels wrong, almost like a rushed shot. If it was staged then I don't rate it. I think it could have been a good shot but the foreground shrub detracts too much from the rider. The washed colors don't work too well with the rider's top either. Its almost like for this light it would have been better if he had been wearing a bolder color top and lid. Just my humble opinion, but there are some much better Infocusmtb shots that could have been put up for POD..... each to their own... :-)
I think the blurred foreground actually aids the picture, it gives it a sense of depth, and without the blurred effect in the foreground the picture wouldn't have the same impact, that's just my opinion
ever since they changed the pod system its gone shit, all of the photographers tend to be from canada or ameria my mate laurence used to get pods all the time its just too biased now
In my opinion this shoot don't deserve to be the PoD. There is no foreground except blurred grass (and it's the half of the photo?!). Only the rider who is in the strong point of the frame is sharp. Technically this shoot is bad.
