Looking good! How are you getting on with the x7 stuff? I've got the same short cage x7 mech, just waiting for the shifter to arrive! That old XT mech i'm running is wank
it's been good, I've gone through one already though on a hefty case on a big jump, just ripped it clean off and bent it loads. Shifting is awesome though.
SLX for the way when it comes to mechs that dont move/ end up in spokes. My orange did that to my xt, no problems with the slx The bike looks so dialled though mate, good job
saw you selling the 456 and orange, wondered what you were up to.....
Personally, I love it, such a good do it all machine. Pedals really well and goes down hill quite good too. Mines a bit of a tank (going on for 36lbs) but is really good fun considering. You can build them really light with the right spec.
I would also consider orange fives/enduros/banshee runes, all are good bikes
awesome, i'm going to try and build it up pretty light, i'm going to keep both my wheelsets as well, one for downhill and one for XC, as there's a huge weight difference between my XC/AM wheels and my DH wheels, plus it saves me changing tyres etc all the time.
I'm looking at a few frames at the moment, if i were to go for another orange, i think it would be an alpine, but they go for silly money... looking at a pitch, and a rocky mountain slayer (very close to buying the slayer) at the moment, could build up pretty nice...
slayers are f*cking heavy and awkward, my mate has one. they're nice to ride but the rear wheel is a massive faff for punctures and theyre just SO HEAVY.
A five would be mint fun with 160 forks on, was very tempted but they do go for a lot for the frame
The double wheelset idea is a great one, if I had the money I would do the same.
ahh haha well i kinda already paid for it, ah well, i can't lose too much money if i don't like it, though i've read reviews that say it's light, and climbs/descends really well, guess i'll just have to see! can't climb worse than my patriot
