I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!! I was using a specialized/stans tubeless kit to make my foldable high rollers pop onto my dt swiss "kinda" tubeless wheels (bead valley is strong but the spoke holes are not covered). I found out that the tape and strip I was using was not covering the spoke holes tight enough and I kept losing air through the valve hole so I initially thought the valve was malfunctioning and kept trying to tighten it down and ended up murdering it before I realized it was loosing air inside the rim. I put down 4 layers of electrical tape after cleaning the rim down excessively and never had any leakage anywhere since. Works great and has not failed yet!! The bead almost set immediately!!
I tried using Gorilla tape and it worked for a couple weeks, but then after a few days of not using my tire was flat because the top rolled back. I also don't think the Stan's tape is holding it tight enough, and I was pulling that f*cker tight. I think I'll just buy the specific Bontrager rimstrip for my rim if I can't get it together with the compressor...
I've been doing it for like an hour, I got it to bead but both tires loose air at the valve area of the tire, I need a compressor to get a high enough psi to pop fully. It's torture.
sorry did i break your concentration ? please continue.. you were saying something about best intentions.. ? ow you were finished.. well let me retart..
