Selected by Ian Hylands - and winter is here on the west coast. Gone are the days of sun and dust. No more beers on the patio, or swims in the lake. Now it's time for mud and rain, wet roots, and soggy shoes. It's an awesome time of year...
You Canadians are so brave and skilful with your bikes - You guys are the best at doing such crazy stuff on your bike so we can stand in awe of your photos. This photo is just off the hook - such balls to pull that stunt.
@hackmackenzie95 : awesome man, you can read mind on an entire country, understand what are their thought (even the french ones!) about the actual pod and generalize an answer! never thought someone like you exist!
To all... I don't much care for this photo either and can handle a good bout of sarcasm, but that canadians think it to be true crap is a load of bull... keep that stuff to yourself please, don't hate here, we all enjoy biking and that's what it's about.
Yes they are the best bike parks, but no I'm not jealous - I actually live here in Canada at the base of the north shore and have been here for 1.5 years. So before you go downtown and burn it down, I was more having a dig at the emu on the bike who rode through a puddle and the arty-farty types who get off on these images slightly related MTB. Where is MTB today? We going to finally see a DH world cup winner from this great MTBing nation?
you obviously can't appreciate that this photo is pretty much biking at its core its not "artsy fartsy" he's not a "emu" dude's just ripping and the guy managed to capture a cool looking shot here in our beautiful country and you have to come along and be a smart ass about it. don't like how we rock n roll here? then take your ass and go back to Australia because Canada is obviously not hardcore enough for you
Husky it's a photo get over it, If it's such a concern to you how I shoot MY photos, then by all means go out and shoot photos that get you stoked. Some people like NWD style where its all big jumps and flips, some people like Lifecycles where there's a story and a vibe. I'm by no means artsy fartsy, I changed up my style for a shoot, and tried new things, that's how people progress. Sam is by no means an emu, he's quite fast and skilled on a DH course...I'm not going to explain the photo, as like i said you're more than entitled to your opinion, and who am I to try to change it. I just find it funny how a photo that has absolutely NO effect on you what so ever could cause you so much anguish. So in that regards I suppose I've succeeded, as any great photo generates an emotional response. I'm flattered, Thanks
Huskey 360 u know damn well canucks don't want a downhill championship until they change the rules and allow cross-checking in 4X and a 3 drink min on downhill events, I do my best work on a 3 drink min. just ask the wife !!!!!!
This photo makes me miss summer here in England. Gone are those long hazy days of drizzle, mud and overcast skies, hello months of downpour, slop, grey skies and being wetter than an otters pocket
Otters pocket? ... our winters here arn't really winters.. i am on my 19 month in a row of riding a bike here in B.C. . . i cannot complain... nice nice nice photo.
don't wanna die? man life is f*cking good in central/south america. travel a bit and you'll understand! (don't need to be super rich to apreciate good things!)
justincs & dicer: you should come down here before you write your stupid sh*t! You'll be amazed of the riding in this beautiful country...you freaking ignorant rednecks
i have been 2 Mexico twice and Belize ......and truely it was beautiful, the weather, the people, the food, the beer(Bohemia-me gusto) the scuba diving.....and espanol pure poetry ...but 14 years and 14 doctors later and this rash just won't go away ....i knew that chick's voice was just a bit too deep!!!!
is it me or I can see a pattern revealing itself here? get a biker, find some mud, ask the biker to go thought the paddle, shoot some pictures, bombard pinkbike with it...
it is a nice photo- but come on guys- pull your fingers out and get some astonishing photos again... something crazy... amazing... wow... great...
Parkrider2: If you don't like a photo that's totally cool, photography is completely biased. Being an internet tough guy on the other hand is pretty lame. Also if you live in a glass house tossing rocks might not be wise. I'll hold my comments, on your personal photography work champ. Thanks for looking! http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/6835638/
im not hating on the photo its self,i thinks its a very good picture ,just there are better pictures out there that could be pod if you get what i mean ?
That's fair enough, I realize he's not front flipping, But biking is more than just massive hits, Was attempting to focus more on the vibe for this shoot. The season here is rapidly changing and I wanted to try to capture that. Think of it as a shot that would be found in Bike rather than in Decline. I do see your point as well.
If you enlarge the photo you can see that the reason the tire looks so skinny is due to center knobs are darker due to the water, so the edges are a little lighter/caked with mud.
