As will as being an expensive mistake It would probably really injury you having a bulky camera like that hit your ribs. But sick shot! I also didnt know you could get a chest mount for the 5D haha

Yes, I did strap a camera to AT's chest. The 5d mark II was in a custom made chest mount. Both riders are were moving very fast and riding much closer together than you would in a normal "train" shot

Can you post some of the repeats where the shutter closed too late, and the first guy is mid air, rather than rear wheel on the ground? I presume you didn't get it right first time!!!

Yeah this took a bunch of tries. This was the best one for sure, there are others where AT is further in the air but R Dog is on his way down. Also, the wide angle lens makes them look farther apart than they actually are... they probably could not have trained any closer than this.

I think this photo is awsome but my ideas think that this guy on the bike wasnt actually moving and was just sitting on his bike to the right of the jump while he captured the rider jumping past him with the canon because i doubt and one would be doing jumps with a canon 5d strapped to their chest, but never the less great photo! Smile

Carrick 14 this is not a "set up" shot it happened just as you see it, both riders training into jump with chest mounted camera.. Check the vimeo vid referenced above to see how it went down. :-)

I'm liking this a lot but I don't think the rider that the photo is being taken from (POV) is actually moving...

Both riders are moving very fast in this shot. It was risky to mount the 5d on AT's chest but I wasn't to worried about it. I have a special chest mount that actually protects the camera fairly well. It took us a few tries to get the timing right, but both AT and R-Dogg were dialed every time

I have to say I am impressed by the shot. Now you have explained properly how the photo was taken, I see how it was done, but you can imagine where the doubts in my head came from, right? I think risking the life of a trusty 5D was a good idea and it's nice to see it paid off.
