Don't need Dura Ace, Ultegra is just as nice, only a little heavier and much cheaper. Ultegra = best bang for your buck in a Shimano road group

agreed, when I used to ride road a lot and work at a bike shop I had Dura Ace, that was 20 years ago. Now I tend to go with cheaper parts that are at least as durable and I don't notice a huge difference. Nothing wrong with Ultegra, the new 600!

I've never had any problems with 105, either.

Sweet photo. Is it scary to see your expensive cam on a "heavily modded" clamp setup? lol

flag IanHylands Mod Plus (Oct 21, 2011 at 8:54)
No, not at all, that's why it's heavily modded. Road bikes are easy, nothing will happen unless I crash. Mountain Bikes are different, all sorts of things like rocks and trees for the camera to hit. Smashed more than one that way. Cheap film cameras those ones though, wouldn't risk a pricy dSLR for that.

How did you take this photo? can you explain?
  • + 1
flag RobbyBriers Plus (Jan 12, 2012 at 7:20)
You attach a camera to the bike. You can look through the camera to see what will be in the picture, and what will be sharp etc. And finally with a remote trigger, you make a photo at the desired time. I'm sure he has taken more than one shot, since it's impossible to know if shot one is a good picture.

Well, it needs strong attachments for a 2Kg cam

flag IanHylands Mod Plus (Jan 12, 2012 at 13:32)
closer to 1kg camera and lens, and yes strong attachments, motor drive at about 5fps, remote trigger...

Although i've just had a look in Photo Mechanic and there is no field for Person Shown?

flag IanHylands Mod Plus (Oct 20, 2011 at 17:00)
It's in the IPTC extension set which is not currently supported by Photo Mechanic unfortunately. Write to them and tell them they need to include it in the next revision. As it is now PM v4.5 should support all IPTC Core fields which is an improvement over past versions...

Talk to Radek maybe he can have it so if you ftp it it will work with the IPTC data??? would save a whole load of time for us togs as it removes like 4 steps from the process (exporting loading up pinkbike uploading and then addiding descriptions etc) probs save a good 5 mins here and there (which as you know is allways nice)
