Can someone please tell me where the remote flash is in this picture? It's driving me batty trying to spot it, or at least work out roughly where it would/should be!!

P.S. Sick shot, lovely composition, lighting and riding.

just to the right of the rider inbetween the cage things!
  • 1 0
It looks like it's there, but it also looks like a reflection of the flash. Also if it was there, the shadow of Anthony on the wall would be different. The shadows look like the flash was square-on to him. My brain is going to explode unless I find out.

theres 2 pods standing on the left and it seems like another 1 came from the right (the shadow over the concrete "thing").

i do this trick on car photography, its a long enough exposure for you to walk around and basically stand and shoot as may strobes as you want without being seen, it does gets a little tricky and costly but i wont go into detail

example of my work with this trick:

DirtboxTom There are two flashes. The one on the right that your trying to find was just to the left of the tree, like andrewavid said it was there and then moved after it fired. The second is to the left. Both were roughly 45º to where Anthony is in the photo.

Thanks man. Explains a lot and I appreciate you finally putting me out of my misery! I didn't look at the exif data originally so missed that this was a 25sec exposure. Must have been a well choreographed shot in order to orchestrate moving flashes, the rider, yourself and the multitude of other aspects in this shot. Well done - your hard work paid off with a great shot. Cheers!

I have to give mad props to Messere...even though I prefer him on the MTB, he really is the all-round rider. No doubt he probably cranked a flair on the other side of this support...

happy start to Movember tho idk if anthony can grow facial hair quite yet haha but sick pic nonetheless

To get the laser beam effect don't you have to have a long exposure? And then to get the picture of the guy wall riding don't you have to have a fast exposure? So this can't be real can it? I mean it could be two pictures sliced together or something... But the rider also looks like he was cut out and pasted there... Suspicious... I am by nature skeptical.. Still loooooks cools tho

You're correct but a flash can 'freeze' motion. Imagine a flash flashing in your eyes, the image of the flash gets 'burned" into your view, the flash on messere has burnt that short duration into the image. Its hard to explain. Flashes freeze motion
