thats because 90% of the stout frames are designed around street geo, meaning short forks and steep angles. keep in mind matt builds these frames on a whim, and is desiging to our specs. and incase your talking about pricing, 420$ for this frame was not unreasonable by any means.
That's pretty interesting though. The fact that most of them are street frames seems to imply that the street frame market is lagging behind the consumers, more so than any other market. If I was a bike manufacturer I would be watching the f*ck out of Stout.
I completely agree, considering a totally custom frame from Matt costs generally anywhere from 420$ - 500$. That's considerably less than a top of the line frame from, say, NS, not too mention they come with a 3 year no questions asked warranty. He could quite easily take over the street MTB scene, without so much as a notice from other manufacturers.
If I can, I'm going to get a more dirt-oriented frame to build as a 4x/dj bike. I will gladly give Matt business, he's an absolute pleasure to work with and he knows his shit.
