I personally like this shot better, I believe this might have been chosen due to the fact that it portrays us more of a autumn feeling, and as it is autumn that is great! + it includes both riders, thus creating a feeling of fun (which we get more of when riding with mates). The whole monotonous aspect of the other shot is taken away by this one, even though it the second one seem sharper, better quality, etc.
But then again, this is my opinion. Many of you might beg to differ, but please do explain your reasons!
There have been some really cool photos up lately, especially with the POY votes going on. This shot is cool, it has character and is a really cool idea, that said it is not really the best, or most worthy photo. But who am I to complain, tomorrow will bring another POD
I really dont see why some people are complaining about this pic being selected as POD. In my opinion this is one of the best PODs in a while, possobly best POD all month!! Well done to sheiffa and the riders, this pic is sick!
i dig the pic, looks like a fun hit, fun misty day... but ill be honest i havent been digging the pods this week... not the best choices. ill get neg props for this but... eh
At dbodoggle, heres my legitimate reason, when you look at the quality of the photograph you can see it is out of focus, and to grainy showing that it was in, you can also see in the bottem left corner the camera has focused on the ground life which is not bad in all cases... if there is something to see there. The photogragher could have at least gone into photoshop and made the quality of the image better and more appealing. Hows that retard!? you have your friken reason
well, I can not disagree that my pic is in shit quality, blurred and grainy. I'm working with amateur equipment, that's why. But don't tell me I haven't focused right or can not use basic features of photoshop. I focused right, but there was mist all over there, which made air less clear, which resulted in blurrines. And actually ground in the left bottom corner hs been blurred by the lens, can't you see it? Riders look shaky cos photo was taken at 1/400 and they were goin pretty fast as you can guess. To get a shorter shutter speed I would have had to switch to iso 3200 which would have resulted in even more grain, maybe I have chosen wrong. And yes, I did some aftertouch, photo looked much worse before it. I put it on pinkbike not because I wanna pretend it's a professional photo, but because if think it has some vibe despite poor quality.
Everyone has his own opinion There are some other photos Sheiffa shot that day, which I like more, but this one pretty much shows conditions of that cold and foggy day... And that's what this photo is all about - if you really love riding, you can have fun any time, not only on sunny summers days (when you can easily shot crisp photos)
