If they were shaking hands in this, bikers across the globe would rejoice. The bike war would be over

Maybe for a second, but then i would say " the Downhiller is only shaking his hand to make the roadie feel better about himself for being a roadie." and then the whole thing would start again. Wink

The bike war will never be over, so long as skinny tires turn on tarmac there can be no peace. Think about the children! Do you want the future generations to be born into a world where cyclists shave their legs and are forced to climb for hours at a time? This is not a fight for your style of riding, this, my brothers, is a fight for the sport itself! Take to the hills and defend our way of life! TONIGHT...WE RIDE...ON TRAILS!!!! Helmet

But in all fairness, if it wasn't for those leg shaving roadies we couldn't have MTn-Bik3r's great little joke.

exactly!! if your a TRUE cyclist you should appreciate all styles of riding. i love roadies! but i ride a fixed gear! and i can appreciate, flatland, bmx, XC, downhill...everything.

you shouldnt hate because in the end of the day! they are all the exact same thing, but just some are bigger or smaller!!

whenever i ride up to the local dh trails (with my big bike and full gear) all the roadies gimme a wave and a nod of approval. we're really doing the same sport when it comes down to the core...

DH fixation? ....... what goes up must come down, jump on your AM or whatever and explore, some of the best downhills do not come with a lift service:-) nice to know a "run" like the back of your hand, but the thrill of discovering and riding a downhill "blind"..... a test of nerve reaction skill, just go ride! road only sucks cos of all the cars full of DH dudes going to the same trails again... :-) I was "DHing" on a 5 speed customised road bike before "mountain" bikes existed....lets go blaze some trails guys!

So if riding road is bad because of the spandex and shaved legs then what is everyones views on XC riders since they do all the rocks and junk but they still do the same as roadies. Or what about the riders who do both dh and road and are actually pretty good at it?
