It is my first full suspension bike, so I can't really say how it rides compared to other bikes. I weigh 120 and I can get away with 100psi in the shock without sacrificing any pedaling efficency because of both the DRCV and 3 position ProPedal. The fork feels amazing, but you can both hear and feel the DRCV engaging if you just compress the fork while riding quietly. You don't notice it on the trail though.
I guess there is some rumor going around that the Trek suspension is too stiff, but that is easily corrected by putting lower air pressure than you would run on any other bike in the fork and shock. The DRCV allows you to do that because it will be stiffer in the first part of the travel than a bike without it.
I can't imagine riding another 150mm bike to an from the shop on Saturday and Sunday (22 mile commute) and not suffering. I am so impressed with this bike and truly believe in what technologies Trek has brought to the table.
Yes they do ride as good as good if not better than you've read. The ABP/Full Floater susp. design is the best to date,..hands down. I demo'd an '09 Fuel EX 9.8 that was cosmetically blem'd for quite a few months and found it to be better than the Specialized FSR Horst Link. This design lets you carry soooo much speed into rough terrain or around corners,.. anybody following you too hot on your 6,.has NO chance,..you *will* hear them crash behind you. I had to tell my friends or anybody that rode with me to back-off a bit to give them a cushion. I was so sad when my Trek Rep wanted the frame back :-( The way they settle out after a jump or drop is indescribable. This design helped me to push my personal envelope of risk farther and farther to the point I amazed myself at times. Im now saving some loot and going to sell another one of my bikes in the Spring to scoop something from the Remedy line.
