How are you running an rp23? Aren't the normal shocks pull-shocks?
  • + 1
flag rsransom (Dec 27, 2011 at 4:00)
God knows haha. I thought they were, but the guy I bought this off bolted the RP23 straight on..no new linkages, bolts, adapters. So I guess not.

Just google image'd the frame/linkage. It's like a kona 4-bar linkage just more compact, I always thought it was like a Cannondale Claymore and pulled the shaft out of the shock, not push it in.

flag rsransom (Dec 27, 2011 at 4:07)
Yeah. I think the only reason it was ever confusing is that the stock equaliser shock Is so compact and you can't see a shaft, it looks like it pulls out.

flag skawt-1 (Dec 27, 2011 at 7:05)
No the ransom is not a pull shock, why does everyone think they have a pull shock? They have a ridiculous stroke ratio, can't remember the exact figures. This means they need a small volume air shock to cope with the pressures exerted by the linkage. They also have floating shocks not 4 bar.

You've built it up real nice Rory! Smile

@skawt, its not a floating shock. Design is basically a single pivot with linkage activated shock. Oh and the RP23 on there actually has the high volume air can. If it was the low volume one, it would blow pretty quick... just like the equalizer's did/do.

Shock is connected from the rocker link to the chainstay just behind the wheel? I thought that made it floating?

flag T1mb0 (Dec 28, 2011 at 9:42)
Its connected to the frame just above the bb.

Wouldn't surprise me with a carbon frame, rp23 and that front wheel. Mine might have been lighter but I can't really remember.

Haha, that's true. How are you liking the reign now? How light is it?

flag skawt-1 (Dec 28, 2011 at 7:19)
The reign is alright, not sure if the frame is a bit on the small side but its a fun bike. It's about 29lbs.
