 UK trails for you...

Litter is the # 1 reason places to ride get closed / torn down in my area. Almost got our skate park closed down permanently because of litter......so sad.

 buy a bin?
  • 7 2
Not as easy as you'd think, you need to buy the bin.. which is money... put it in a pace where it will be used but not vandalised, find a way that it will be emptyed each week.... me and my friends made our own skatepark on an old Ministry of Defence site and litters not that easy an issue to deal with..

Thank you Fuzz! Like you say even with a bin you still have problems. I believe if you can carry it in with you......you can carry it out with you. Btw.....the skate park has three bins within 50 feet and are emptied by the park rangers, yet almost lost the skate park due to the litter. Luckily for everybody, the local / only skate shop in town stepped up and took over managing the skate park, only reason it's still open.

laziness and ignorance. i hate seeing litter on the trail!
  • 2 0
Can i just say, that was not are litter it also looks like it has been there for decades and these are not privately owned dirt jumps they are local and open to many dog walkers and chavs lurking around so it attracts alot of litter and the local riders do there best to clean it up.

flipside...i'm not saying it's your litter, at all! i see it at almost every trail i go to, and it's not one group in particular that does it. it's a certain type of person who doesn't appreciate the beauty of nature. the only thing we can do about it, is speak up loud and clear when we see someone littering. maybe eventually everyone will get the point! great pic btw!

haha its cool man, i didnt aim it at you. it was just was incase anybody thought it was ours. and thanks!

We get chavs coming up to our trails and litter gets dropped everywhere, and then gets blamed on the proper bikers....

cool pic, but not pod worthy...

I wish the rider weren't so lost in the background! That's my only complaint about the whole photo tup

So view the largest size, and blow it up a little bit. (Ctrl + scroll wheel)

I just think the foreground is ugly and it's nothing in the picture 'catching the eye', add the dull colors and the rather unorganised people watching him (which also ruins the picture) and you have my reasons for why I think it is a lot more pictures that would make a better POD.
  • 4 0
have to agree here, there's nothing that makes this picture "POP" out even though it is a pretty cool photo!
  • 2 0
staike, i accepted your point of view and totally understand. i took this photo to show more of a scene type shot of what was going down on the day, i didn't set anything up, i just took it how it was there and then.
  • 2 0
Thanks. Don't misunderstand me, the picture is decent, but I looked through your other photos and you actually have other photos that I think is even better than this one. You take a great pictures man. Salute

POD worthy is an interesting concept. I won't hesitate to say the it's obviously POD worthy because it's POD, that fact by itself makes it POD worthy. I think this is an awesome photo, it's not flashy, it doesn't have epic sunset light or anything, but it's got great composition, a super steazy 360, and it's a great documentary photo. It tells the story of what was going on on this day, and it does it very well.

I can see what people are saying above, but seriously? The rider has a white t shirt on. Sometimes having a dull background adds to an image. Like Ian said, an image doesn't always need an epic sunset or flashy lighting to be a good photo. Fundamentally this image is spot on.

was my desktop within seconds of seeing it

If you could see the reflection of the rider in the puddle, that would be POD worthy.
  • 1 1
I know I say this alot, but the photo is framed nicely on the thirds. the top of the jumps lining on the on the top third and the rider being on the far right. I keep debating on the need to light the rider. I probably would have shot off a few frames with a flash directly below the rider to see how it looked. Nicely done photog!

When a trick is that cranked and steezy it deserves to be pod. Its not always about the perfect picture.
  • 1 0
Not digging the whole left side of the frame, sick style by the rider though.

this really shouldnt be pod. You cant see the rider, and theres trash in the shot. come on...
  • 7 1
Actually you can see the rider, he's doing a huge sick 360, and the trash actually adds to the documentary nature of the shot... I like it a lot, that why it gets to be POD.

Woah buddy... You criticize someone's choice and you better be ready to hear what they have to say. Especially when 'somebody' refers to one of the most respected action sports photographers in the world.

Yeah, but it's a public site so I can reply to your comment if I like, and I just felt like expressing my own opinion of your opinion...
