Stupidly, I can't figure out how that linkage pushes on the shock. It seems like the gold linkage should just collapse... really wanna see a video.

The top gold link just controls the top pivot of the lower link in an arc to sort of follow the direction of the shock. I would record a video for you, but I dont have mine at Uni with me
