that Hope SS hub is a boat anchor

Compared to a Chris King 9sp hub, I don't think it could be called an anchor. CK hubs aren't known for being lightweight, no?

Lighter then the Pro 2 SS and Hadley

The hub is pretty much the only part i'm not changing. I've wanted that hub for ever. Plus I don't need a 9speed hub, and being a SS hub, it has the wider flanges which means less flexy wheels!

And the steel cassette (where all the weight comes from) is what keeps the hub is decent condition after years of use, given that the bearings/seals don't blow out.

Is that CR's hub btw?

What headset is that? Looks like an FSA Pig (DH?) if so you could loose a bit of weight with that.

good thing you are talking about this, I was looking at the monstruosity of a headset there was on the bike 2minutes ago in the garage, but like I said, I need money before switching up parts!

 drop to single speed?

flag rigodon777 (Jan 14, 2012 at 21:37)
Seat and seat-post, fork and brake to X0 might be the only place I could lose weight. wheels are pretty much the lowest I could and WOULD go. There is not much to change on that bike.. haha! HELL NO. I'm not going single speed. There is a reason I invested in the chain-guide and X0. I want my speeds.

Fork, brake, take some links outta that chain.

flag rigodon777 (Jan 14, 2012 at 22:19)
Yeah. Chain might be a good Idea. Like I said, fork is gonna wait since I have a bunch of trip to pay for. Brake could be a good idea, but I don't see a lot of good light rear brake on here.. for cheap!

Use my Jackal Mk.3 as an example then. With two brakes and 9 cogs it was 25.66 lbs. http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/5047674/

DAMN! What about Xt brakes? If I can find those for cheap? Pretty light?
  • + 1
flag seraph (Jan 15, 2012 at 12:33)
Mine were XTR so they were pretty light. I have run XT levers with XTR calipers before and they're definitely lighter than Elixirs. You might be able to find last year's XT brakes on sale.

 Seatpost, seat, Fork.

Whats your wheelset?

flag rigodon777 (Jan 14, 2012 at 21:55)
WTBs on Hope pro2 ss rear, and a pretty light front hub. Won't go lighter in the wheels. Seat and seatpost are the next thing to go. Fork might have to wait since I have a bunch of trips to pay for!
