My friends house was broken into yesterday. The fuckers stole his Norco 4x. He's in deeper depression than when he broke up with any girlfriend. A dudes bike... More important than chicks.
  • - 34
you guys are all losers. you are just using the excuse that you love your bike to much to have a gf cuzz you could never get a gf in the real world.

 ^ owns a Kona... wouldn't understand Razz

We should take a moment's silence for all those riding buddies we've lost to shopping with their girlfriends at the weekends!
  • + 16
thats why you find a girl who rides. Smile
  • + 21
Or just find a girl who really cares about you. My wife doesn't ride, but she has yet to ask me not to go riding when I make plans to ride. If the girls loves ya, she'll support your biking!
  • + 7
you know whats better. bikes AND girls! if your girl bikes with you. you've got yourself a keeper!

ya, my girlfriend wouldn't hike, climb, or bike with me so when i hiked, climbed, or biked, instead of hanging out with her she dumped me....now i hike, climb, and bike whenever i want!!!
  • + 2
My girlfriend tried to hike, bike, climb, and board with me but she just couldn't keep up and never had that good of a time... So now I do it all alone and she's perfectly happy with chilling at home and greeting me with a warm dinner, some Ovaltine, and a back rub when I get home. Holy shit I have it made.

long exposure shots like this are the best!

That big white line looks like it was 'shopped in.

Edit: I've been looking at his other pictures. Perhaps there's no 'shopping. Just some light taped on their helmets.

How did he get such a clear shot of the rider in a long exposure pic but the light stream's still in long exposure ? It's a great shot btw Big Grin
  • + 2
I'm no photography expert but I believe they used a timed flash to freeze the rider in the shot. Basically in low light situations they by leaving the shutter open it allows more light to hit the "film" aka sensor. The sudden flash of light causes the rider to become more exposed at that moment than he is at any given moment which in effect freezes him. If you look in the lower right corner you can see the rest of the flash. I've never used this technique though so correct me if I'm wrong.

What my question is: How did he get the stars to turn out so well with so much light pollution in the foreground. I'd love to hear about that.
  • + 1
I expect that is "2nd curtain flash". The flash fires just before the 2nd curtain closes and ends the exposure. You can then have a long exposure to capture the dark background, and a quick (1/20,000 sec) burst of flash to freeze the biker. Easier said than done though.
This great pic took a lot of work and inspiration.

@Marlfox87, maybe Bic-Col had the foreground light off when he was exposing for the background, switched them on for however long he needed, then unleashed the rider.
  • + 1
@Marlfox87 & Argyll, It didn't even strike me about 2nd curtain, didn't think of that at all! Great idea, and it worked out amazingly :O Thanks for that Smile And also Marlfox87, depending on the light he has on his head it could be just the exposure from that, if you look at the literal ramp, it has no source of light but yet is still lit up along with every other part he rode.. Juts a suggestion though not sure at all!

how is the rider not blurry if he was using such a long shutter speed

He could have used a flash to freeze the rider like that

Everything about this shot is amazing. The rider, the feature, the sky, the trees, light use, the stars... If there's anything I left out, probably because I'm now wishing I was riding with a bike light on my head. Nice!
