I wanted to try something new this time around. I have owned a few boxxers and 2 888's in the past so I was left with either a 40 or dorado. Either would have been rad but got the 40 for too good of a price. I hear the new 888's are awesome so maybe in the near future I will try one again

dang...you're making me second guess myself. I have a black 2012 40 just sitting in a box in front of me...

and the bike looks so slack for some reason...are the lower crowns high?

I wouldn't second guess it. The 888 is lighter and supposed to be amazing. If I could have got one for the same price as the 40 I might have tried one. It is a slack bike indeed. The lower crowns are probably 1/2 an inch higher then the minimum and it has an external lower headset cup. Its probably sub 63 degrees ha ha. It took me a few runs to learn that I really need to keep my weight over the bars in corners but it is a fun, stable bike that is still pretty lively

yeah...i kinda got a little antsy with a white 888 and went ahead and ordered a cheaper black rcv and i'm going to swap the lowers and crowns. I have raw bike with a white fork so yeah i'd rather like a black fork...http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/7771188/ The only thing that kinda bugs me is not using matching suspension...but marzocchi just isn't as good as fox on my bike. That's crazy slack though! I love having everything slammed as much as I possibly can. Is there a clear coat on the top? It looks more matte than anything else

Clear coat on what? The frame is just plain raw. The fork is matte. I also had run everything slammed until this bike. It has a 13.5" bb height so I like to run it a little taller. Its a fun bike so far, I would love to try a large demo, TR250/450, and the new Norco Aurum. All those look like fun lively bikes which is what I tend to enjoy more. Probably won't be changing for a while though. This may be the first season I don't swap either of my bikes

oh, yeah the frame. I wasn't sure if it was the pic that made the bike look just raw. That's dope...yeah i won't be changing now for a while. Just no more phat hookups...
