Selected by Ian Hylands - It's not easy to light an entire street of apartments, but that's what it seems has been done here. The riding is good, it's just someone ripping an urban corner on a bike, but it's the good composition, especially the way the buildings look, and the light that make this photo really stand out for me. Total opposite of yesterdays POD...
We all appreciate the biker, its an awesome POD, but after u look at the rider u look at the scenery, or in this case the person in the window. Make sense?
Announcer voice) And he makes it through the first corner now into the second turn he gets a little squirly but makes it out fine...now he's in the last corner and...what is this he has collided with a photographer....awesome shot
This one took a little bit just to take everything in. The concrete jungle backdrop, the happy-go-lucky bro in the window, the porthole of blue sky, the intensity of the rider lookin' like I'm in his line and he's just going to run me over and me wanting to be him right there right now.....wow, I think I just had a moment!
This one just tickles my fancy.......favorite POD of the year so far..............
Ok I'm dying to know.. Camera, Lens, Ap,Shutter,ISO, WB, the whole works. This shot is just inspirational and makes me want to grab my camera and go learn something new.
My guess is a blend of a second exposure taken without the rider for the building. If you look at the sky you see a light blue ring around where the sky meets the building, which seems to imply some HDR'ing with another exposure.
Would makes sense. I'm still pretty new to photography so right now whenever I see a cool shot I try to note the cameras setup, and the photographers mindset so that I can try and replicate the shots effect in my own work. Guess I'll need to do a little more research into HDR. Because I took an amazing night shot of an old house and staircase last week and immediately after seeing it I wished I could place a Rider on the staircase for a night-time urban Downhill shot. I'm planning on going back to try but I really don't know how to maintain the extended exposure for the low light and still keep the rider looking sharp.(Don't think my flash is strong enough to freeze the rider like I want to.) So if the the photographer, or anyone else, has any ideas on how this shot was taken I'm all ears.
