Selected by Ian Hylands - There's a lot to like about this photo. First of all I love shots that give a perspective on where you are and where you're going, and that a mountain bike got you there. That's what it's about really, the ride. And this one is in Jerusalem, which is pretty cool, we don't really see a lot of riding in the east, and this makes it look amazing...
So nice to see this picture, not only because I know the trail and Reuben personally, but also because I'm the second rider in it. The one "with the helmet..."
So a bit about this trail, nick named the "sugar road". The name comes from a few centuries ago - this trail is actually a pilgrims trail from Jericho (at the bottom) to Jerusalem (at the top). It was used to transport people and goods, such as sugar.... It's pretty cool to ride a trail so old, and it is actually not so remote as it looks. Just a short drive from the city of Jerusalem and you're out in the desert (dry side of the mountain). This trail is usually ridden downhill and then we take a shuttle back up to the car. It's a nice and flowy ride, about 24k long, with some amazing views. Our desert for sure has more epic trails to offer, but this one combines a lot of fun and good accessibility.
such a great photo !!i rode this trail with friends two months back,at night on a full moon with no lights!!
it was the best ride of the year !!
its a 20 mile of tight singletrack
so sweet ,cant wait to ride it again !!
some good riding out there huh? why does that guy not have a helmet on, Those trails look wicked man i cant stand to see people riding without at-least a helmet, i know not everyone has the chance to get one,if i ever make it anywhere racing ,im going to start a organisation to help get young riders proper riding gear& trails..dreaming

And who cares if the rider wears a helmet or not - their head, their decision.
Wow...thanks mom.
