 haha the token ahole

I think Charley is just pointing out that its a little soft.It happens.

 hehe... ^

not pod worthy, its barely even in focus. could have been a lot better.

At 1.8 I'm surprised Messere's not just one big blob of bokeh.
I'm sure he would've chosen a higher aperture if he had the light. What's the highest ISO on a D200?

Overall a greatly timed shot even if it's a little soft.

i agree with charley here, the shot is at 1.8 and its doesn't work, although, with different settings this would have been a great shot due to his timing.

One of those shots where you're stoked at the trails based on the small LCD screen on your cam- but then when you get back home and look at it on a bigger screen you think 'ahhh sh*t!!'

Great timing but my nan took sharper images with her pinhole cam.

could be improved in sharpness and whatnot, but overall, great photo, nice timing, great capture.

Kyphoto. I pretty much maxxed out the settings on my ol D200! The standard ISO range is 100-1600 & extendable to 3200. usually I try not to go above 800-1000.
  • 2 1
It was obviously really low light conditions, If he had some decent lights it would have been a lot sharper.
  • 5 2
Thats a sick pic but really Ian.. This isnt like you to pick a photo that isnt tack sharp!
  • 2 2
Timing is good and everything, but the image quality is pretty terrible. Simples

Overall, I think this is impressive for ISO 2000 at 1.8 on the D200.

Shut up with the camera talk this isnt pinkcamera.com no one cares. Take a look at the first POD and be THANKFUL.
  • 3 2
i thought pod was about the action in the shot not who has the nicest camera. sure the nice camera makes it that much nicer but still. its a sweet shot to me blurry or focused.

considering how dark it actually is at the jumps you guys are lucky enough to get a photo...

Wait, when did everyone on pinkbike become a master photo critique?
  • 3 0
One does not simply become a master photo critique. No matter how much they believe they are.
  • 2 0
3 things. its pinkbike so saying the max your camera does is iso 3200 is not relevant. shoot at iso 3200 yeah it may be noisy buy when your only uploading at 800-1000 px no 1 will ever know after a bit of post. Secondly The term "POD" refers to PICTURE of the day, which implies it has to be a good image. thirdly (this is the important bit) some times you catch an image in the worst technical way (under exposed, oof, poor composition) but none of it matters because what is going on is so monumental.
  • 4 4
only POD because there both sponsered. End of.
  • 5 1
^ you're right. Infact Redbull paid Ian and I a large sum of money to make this photo of the day with anthony and his redbull helmet in the blurry background

Seriously guys, we got this shot at the end of a great day of riding thinking it would be a cool idea, it took a few tries to get the timing down and to hit the tricks at a standard we were satisfied with. It was quite dark, this spot is heavily shaded and with the sun basically gone, yes, tough conditions to shoot in, like Bryce already stated, his d200 was maxed out. The shot may not be Bike Photo Anual material alright, nobody's denying that. But the beauty of pinkbike is sharing your stories of riding through media with other people who share the same passion, regardless of quality. Bryce didn't pick this as POD, he uploaded it for the same reason we're all here, the love of our sport. It just baffles me to see that all too often there's people taking it so personally if the shot that's been chosen doesn't sit right with them. There's another one coming tomorrow, chill ouuuuttttt. Also, I dont think that the subjects of a photo receiving support makes a difference. Rant over
