Selected by Ian Hylands - The Teva Games are on this weekend and this is a fitting start. Beautiful light and composition in this shot from Laurence, you don't need all sorts of fancy gear to take amazing photos, sometimes you just need to lie on the ground.
I think I was meaning $5000 plus camera, expensive lenses, and all sorts of fancy flash gear. This is just a 7D with a fisheye... And yes I said "just" a 7D, the reality of it is that the 7D is still a fairly cheap camera all things considered...
Surely it's a wide angle lens? As it happens I have the same camera and lens, and I would not call it a fisheye. If it's the Sigma 10-20 lens, then Sigma don't call it a fisheye either. Just asking.
The cheapest digital camera body I own is about $2500, most pro's I know don't leave the house with less than $10,000 in gear. For a pro photographer 2K actually is pocket change... But the actual camera isn't the point, you could take this with a $1000 setup just as easily...
So how about the shot, eh? I think everything about it is sick, the grass, the jump, the ski lift, the sky. And whatnot. I don't care if it was taken with a flip phone or a skrillion dollar camera. Either way, it's a sick shot.
What is wrong with you people? A $5000 camera takes a better picture then a $500 camera the same way a $8000 DH bike rides faster then a $2000 one. The equipment has little to do with the ability of the person using it. Its a sick shot and if you think you can take a better one and deserve the POD, go buy a rebel with a couple lenses for $500 and take one. Most PODs are user controlled to 1200x700 which is well with in range of even the cheapest DSLR's.
Rookie. Someones result at a race is very little about the bike being ridden, its its almost all about the ability of the rider. I'm pretty sure there is a guy here in Aus getting Top 5's at Nationals and he has Marzo Drop Off's on the front of his rig.
This photo is amazing. You have the grass in the front, then a more square wooden lip onto a rounded dirt landing. Then you have the two chairs and the cables over the top which add some cool vertical lines. And then behind that you have hills in the background that look like they're covered in a well kept grass rather than the wild looking grass at the front. (yes i know there are trees on the hills) And it all pulls together perfectly.
Huh? Well if reading is not your strong suit I suggest you just turn the volume up so you can listen lol... And if you are deaf. Well sounds like you are just SOL.
What I'm saying is that you should therefore be aware of how quickly the subtitles go by. It's difficult to both read them and visualize what's going on at the same time. Yes, I realize that I said visually impaired and not hearing impaired, but this is a photo that accompanies no audio and that doesn't mean you should go about insulting my reading capabilities to further prove your point.
no. far from it, the lens (if its canon is about £300... google shopping prices) and the 7D is nowhere near the top end price wise, you've got things such as a 5dMkiii which is probably twice maybe three times, if not more than a 7D body alone...
