It honestly doesn't matter how you rotate the shock. But what the seller mentioned is true by technicality. The stanchion is "suppose" to be the part that moves, rather the latter. Plus, it gives you hipster points.
That frame looks so dope. Love the color and mustachey.
Haha yeah, selling to save up and upgrade to something carbon.....if Trek will make a carbon AM/FR bike. I got it down to 30lbs without going tubeless....so maybe I'm just being greedy haha.
what I wouldn't give for a sub 30lb carbon slash... my rep was saying it might happen, but apparently demand is too low to justify.. *looks at all the carbon nomads and ibis mojos...* maybe an ibis mojo HD. that could suffice nicely.
this thing looks soo nice man! as for the slash thing, i got mine in at 31lb dead without trying and at a spec that can take a hit, would be crazy to see what they can do with a carbon rig running xx1
Thats what I was thinking too! I mean the aluminum session to carbon session dropped 2lbs in frame weight, so aluminum slash to carbon slash maybe like 1.5lbs off the bat, plus that XX1, Enve carbon wheels, tubelss, carbon bars, with a 160 air fork......that thing would be close to 25lbs if not less!
i would love to see it happen! although at the same time mine dented my wallet hard enough and that was on trade (work at a bike shop) i would hate to see the price tag on your dream steed my friend
It allows me to run a slightly higher shock pressure so I have a more firm pedaling platform while maintaining the smoothness of the "full floater" suspension. The ride isn't as harsh riding the bigger stuff anymore.......then again I could be 100% wrong and its all in my head.
But all of the seals are on the bottom so technically flipping the shock should keep everything well oiled.
It just makes more sense..
It's the same as that you hit a boxing bag with a glove, instead of hitting the glove with a boxing bag.. where as the shock shaft is the glove, damping compartment the bag.
Good point newboy, makes sense, though I doubt the difference is noticeable. I don't like the Dakine sticker Trek is not a cool enough brand for that association. Maybe Nike.
