nice shocks and suspension setup btw, I wish I had that on my truck tup ...how much damages do you think ???...has the frame shifted at all ???...having a strong bumper will protect and hold the frame together but where did the fender go, lol ???

dude... fender blew off the truck and landed out in traffic.. I had to sit there listening to EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE drive over it, over and over, and over! I finally MADE the cop go get it or I was going to. The sound was killing me!

Never mind. You're not gonna like this, but that truck is totaled. It's a 4 Runner w/ probably $5k damage, so that's an excessive percentage of total value. They'll total it out. If you got the connections, which I'm assuming you do with your line of work, you're probably looking at buying it back at salvage value. Good luck and stay in constant touch with your adjuster.

Actually, as long as that coilover and A-arm is ok, then i only count a $25 tierod, a $250 fender, a bumper that I can remake in an afternoon, a hood, a headlight, What Im mostly worried about is the light structural metal behind the headlight. So if they total it then I could just grab a front clip off a junkyard donor and zap away. I can almost garantee there's no frame damage, that bumper did its job.

...but I like to think I'm always right. Wish I was half as capable as you. My 97 blazer just blew an engine. Trying to sell it for scrap and it's pathetic.

Yeah, but an engine for that is $$$... I miss the days when $400 bought you a good running 350 and you're back on the road by Monday after 2-3 buds and a case of beer covered the install. Sigh... I turn 40 tomorrow...I didn't need this this weekend!

Your 40??? Holy old guy! Happy birthday? Send me some used parts! I need a muffler bad.

Welcome. Turned 40 on September 20th. Wife and boss felt pity for me and sent me on my way for the day to ride and trout fish in the forest. Wouldn't mind turning 40 again for one more day like that.

I work for State Farm. What year, make, model truck? And how much custom stuff we talking? Here in NC, there is a $1000 limit for customization, but that's not necessarily every state.

oh no !!!...was everyone ok ???...this sucks ballz...

Everyone except the minivan I turned inside out. Damnit.

it's only when you get into an accident and secure inside a truck that you realise how fragile cars are...me and my then 5yo daughter got rammed full blast in the back by an out of control dumbass...pieces of her Accord and coolant fluids where all over my truck, the car was a total wreck,,,and all my daughter asked me after she heard the noise and felt the impact was 'what just happened ???'' lol...where you at fault ???
  • 1 0
Yeah, my fault. Hell, anytime you rearend someone you're simply following to close. Period. This time I was that^ dumbass... OK, so I was cruising down I5 about 10-15mph BELOW speed limit cuz I just got done building, had no place to be and was headed to the bike shop to get my wifes birthday prez for me- a 2013 Fox Rampage lid(woohoo!).. then saw this SEA of bright red taillights in front of me. Kinda started slowing down while I was looking ahead to see where I could go... then I bring my focus back to right in front of me and WHOA! There's a pickup in front of me who isn't on the brakes, but just coasting slowly up the hill about 300 yards behind the traffic jam in front of him. Hell, Im surprised I saw him at all. But I ripped it hard to the right then back to the left to avoid the wall and rearend slid out, caught then shot me across the interstate right into the back of the minivan that was in front of the pickup.I hit her so hard. I dont think I touched my brakes even once, so 45-50 right into her. Knocked every piece of glass out of the van except the front windshield. Hit her so hard the HEADLIGHTS blew out of the front of her van and were 40 feet down the highway. It's not that I was going so fast but because My bumper wasnt designed to crush and fold. even though it did. Frown But her van is totalled. Rear wheel is under the side door, bumper folded in the pillars in the back, rear gate was practically in the backseat. It was a lady my age and her mom. SUPER nice people. She said she saw me coming so kinda had a warning, but crap they are going to be sore in the morning.
Hopefully my insurance takes good care of them and hopefully they dont have a change of heart and sue my pants off. This IS America, after all! But she called me an hour ago, said there's no hard feelings and that they are OK and glad no one got hurt. Except for my beloved truck... now it's in an impound yard with JUNK..all alone and cold!
  • 1 0
well, I'm just happy for you that nobody got hurt...did you get your new fox lid in the end, lol,,,that's a sweet helmet fosho, post some pics...when we got rear ended, I was totally stoped and she crashed right into us without even touching the brakes,,,she was on her cell phone doing around 35mph...if I woud have been by myself, I would not have cared less but having the kiddo with me, I kind of wanted to Knock her socks off, she was a big girl, she looked like she could have taken a few, lol...wouldn't your car insurance cover any liability on your part ???...how can they sue for road accident ???...unless it was criminal or something, like being drunk-stoned or just reckless driving ???...

Insurance will cover everything, but it's not uncommon at all for a "victim" to suddenly needing $500,000 for "stress and anxiety" etc. Not uncommon at all.

And Im even questioning how fast I could have been actually going.. I started out only doing prob 50.. then let off the gas... had time to dodge this and that and I only moved her maybe 5 feet... Hell, my truck was only 5-6 feet away from here and I powered mine as far out of the way as I could before it died..meaning something bad happened under the hood. Frown Cops wouldnt let me friggin look at it cuz it was "in harms way.."
And now Im freaking out cuz full coverage insurance only covers damaged STOCK parts... The only things I can think of that got damaged that are stock are the headlight, hood, a tierod... and hopefully a tire even though it's not stock size.. Friggin tire went so far in that it ripped my rezzi off the frame rail mount.. so hopefully I didnt damage the friggin shock and the steering knuckle as well...
