dude who cares how good it is? the only thing on it thats better then normal dh bikes is the gearbox really, everything else is just durability and weight really, and it uses a lot of carbon fibre so it isnt heavy and its actually less beefy than it looks
i read those are like 75 000 in a magazine.?? is that still true. no jolk either. i have the mag. but maby it was jsut some statement or soethign dumb. but how much is that bike realy.

Not only is Greg 1x World Champ and 2x World Cup Champ, but in '06 he came 3rd, and would've won had it not been for a flat tire in Brazil, where his teammate Matti picked up the win instead. He's the most consistent, flawless, most skilled rider in the world, and keep in mind that his first World Cup Championship victory and his only World Championship victory were on normal derailleur drivetrains, and his 4x bike still has a derailleur drivetrain too. Besides, if you call his drivetrain cheating, then aren't Hill, Peat & Rennie cheating with their wider bars and BB shells, and Hill with his low BB, and Peat & Rennie with their 2 inches more travel in the back, & all of them with their slacker head angles & lighter bikes? Plus, if any of them wanted to they could easily get on the G-Cross team, or just buy a Rohloff or something. Oh yeah, and I bet Peat, Rennie & Hill would have a lot more trouble keeping up if they lost their beer guts and had to pump a little to maintain momentum. And learn to spell, it's Minnaar. Can't f*cking believe how smart some people think they are!
vchill dude, and you cant tell if he would win, he had puncture and he didnt win, thats it, live with it,
Talk about late to the party Variiis, I posted that 3 years ago. And do the math: he was on a winning time, he had already won qualis, and even if he made a big mistake and tied his worst finish of the year he probably still would've had the most points in the end. It's not all about winning, it's about who's the best. He was the best that year, and no nail can take that away from him.
i know my point is , that you cant say oh he would win if he woulnt have punctureyou never know, cos he had puncture and he didnt win, you never know, maybe he would make loads of mistakes? Noone knows dude, thats why you just can say that oh this and that would have happened if something wouldnt happen
Wow $Alex$. Way to slander everyone while presenting your opinion as to why you think Greg Minnaar has god-like status on the DH circuit. What you don't know is that it doesn't really seem to matter if Rennie and Hill have beer guts anyway. For some uncanny reason, they still consistently finish on the podium or top five. Go figure.
PS: No one REALLY gives a shit about spelling on this forum so just leave it alone.

Yeah, you nailed it Born2flo! 10 kids claim that Greg is a fraud and that Honda could use their advice, and when I try to explain the shocking truth about a world class athlete who dropped out of school to spend his days training and a multi-billion dollar corporation with hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on R&D for the DH bike of the future, I get an expert like you telling me off. BTW, read over that beer gut sentence, you got it backwards. But don't give up! Please, I beg you to show us all just how smart you really are!

PHOTOSHOPPED!!!!!! no just playin, but all u guy seriously need to chill. If u think about it, it all boils down to a matter of opinion... no one has the right to tell eachother off. Cool pic.
Why are so many people so upset that honda makes a DH bike? They have a lot of technology that could be potentially be passed down from their MX bikes to DH. I wouldn't consider myself a honda fan when it comes to dirtbikes, but I do know for a fact that they are very well thought out, cleanly put together (unlike many other brands), and high performing bikes. If they want to make a few innovations in the DH scene, then by all means they should go for it. And how the hell do honda's cars have anything to do with them building a DH bike? They have a completely different brach of the company to design bikes.

GTrider257, is anyone proud of you? First off, Honda is Japanese, not Chinese. Just for that you get a million f*cking points. Secondly, it was designed by both their motocross engineers and a handfull of Japan's best downhillers working together, so it shitkicks your bike hands down. Thirdly, GT's I-Drive is not a f*cking tranny, it's a linkage system, and Honda use a single pivot, so you're not even in the same f*cking book. Fourthly, did you just say derailleurs are meant to be? They tear off, they add weight in the worst spots, they're expensive in every way, they're limited to a small number of absolute ratios, they skip, fail and ghost shift, they can't backpedal on any kind of a rough surface, they can only be shifted while pedaling forward on relatively smooth ground, and they're loud. Call me a f*cking rebel, but I'm kinda looking forward to a nice internal CV tranny on all my bikes! What the hell holds your hair up?
Has noone noticed that honda make a type of machine for every single motorsport and each class of motorsport that they enter they consistantly do very well in.
From this fact alone I think it is good that they are branching in to DH bikes they have pretty much unlimited resources and development prospects that no bike company could ever dream of. This means that even other bike companies could learn from Honda's technology
GROW THE f*ck UP KIDS!!! you sound like little pricks bickering like this!!

^^ What he said above, Honda brings in more sponsorship potential, more development and more media coverage, which means our sport can progress...
progression boys, you think orange would have put the same money in to dialling up the gear box as handa to home perfection, NO hence why they waited for suntour to produce one, possibly a copy. orange has nothing finacially over honda! that bike is great because its the next step not just to technology but to the spectical of the sport.
played honda
although i prefer non gear box bikes

what I would really like to see is a major television company take a real interest in the sport, A large company like sky or ntl, then with more money being pumped into it the sport would gain more and more interest and progress forward. Theres only so much RedBull can do to help

Amiright, you're damn right. If there was an entire TV channel devoted to mountain bike coverage, like a 24/7 videozine, people might recognize the difference between a true athlete like Minnaar, and someone who gets more publicity and recognition, despite being only a fraction of the rider Greg is, like Kurt Sorge or someone. Some people really can't tell the difference! Our sport's best should get the credit they deserve, and the money, technology, support, and publicity outside of bike videos and magazine ads that go with it. It's beyond me how DH, 4x and trials are still not in the Olympics, following XC and even BMX racing!
The Honda bike obviously rides well but if i were to ride a gearbox bike it would be a Nicolai Nucleon TST. That bike is pimp, well put together and u can run it with a Rohloff. 'Nuf said.

dude stop knocking the honda bikes...dont get You kids. its progression as many have said. and even if You guys choose one companies Gear Box (what ever name you choose) over anothers theyre baisically all built of the same prototypes from another company so Your pretty much bashing one Youve supported. I also herd bout the BMX in 2008 and really hope that DH has a chance. But im sorry comparing greg or DH riders in general so FR its completely diff I think Kurt is an anamzing rider not just hucks hes pretty tech too so Im sorry please dont know the FRs. All aspects of the sport take skill, maybe not as much skill as others. But still. Much skill is required for all love Your guyses points read every one its awsome.
DHalex, if they can build a XC mountain bike course each fourth summer then they can at least make a pedally DH course too. And yes, I mentioned the BMX thing, that's what got me going in the first place.
someone needs to start a forum on this Greg Minnaar guy haha looks like it would be talked about a lot
I'd be all over that! Can't say enough to get people to stop underrating the guy. He's just like any of your local friendly riders, he doesn't deserve that crap!
