Im stoked banshee beefed up this frame. I had an older one. It was super fun but not nearly as solid as this one looks. And going with bearings instead of bushings, also a good idea. That was the reason my frame met its demise

I think the company nearly met it's demise over the bushing issue. This thing looks pretty solid. I rode one before I bought it and it's a super stiff chassis, and very smooth.

 Hey guy !

I will not say that this is potentially one of the best trail-killer
I say that this potentially one of the best trail-killer of the market place!!!

It should be lighter to be a real all mountain bike but it is a Banshee bikes, so you can go hard with this one.

I don t know which sort of sock you will use but actually it seems that the CCDB air is a very good stuff on those frame.

and with exchangeable drop outs about rear axle and geometry, the result for this bike is once again a Revolution.
Nobody saw the Prime as a f-*/ing good all mountian 29er and the first one to have an aggressive geometry just because it is a 29er....but the rune is, like the Prime, the first frame of a new generation. Middle rear travel, just 160 mm and option to ride a 150 mm rear axle to increase the already very good stiffness of the frame....
Once again Keith did a very good job
We need rider like you with important Aura to show to everybody that BBI is in da place and always in the front of the Page!!!

thank you for your feedback

Wow, that seems to be the first Neon-Yellow-Rune in a Customers hand. Awesome Color! Hope you will enjoy your new Ride. I have decided to go with the Runes little Brother, the Spitfire slackened to Rune-Geometry with -1 Deg Angleset. The best Fun-Aggro-Trailbike I have ever owned. Have Fun NoStyle

 hey guys

thanx for answering

Sick Color. Looks like someone colored it with a highlighter.
  • 2 0
That's exactly what I told someone it looked like. I liked it at first, then didn't, now really really like it.

I just built up a new Rune V2, and it ROCKS!!!!!!! www.pinkbike.com/photo/9062479

How did you get this color?
  • 1 0
Looks great, glad you are enjoying it! This is a stock color for the second production run.

This frame will replace long-travl Cove? If so - then this is very interestin!
  • 2 0
We'll see if it works out. I don't think this frame will put any limitations on my riding that I haven't already set in place for myself. I will truly miss the Cove STD. Best bike I've ever had. I don't feel like I'm riding hard enough to justify 8" travel, and the smaller/lighter bike will be much easier to climb with, considering that I don't ever shuttle. The Cove is such a ripper though, and there's no denying it will be sorely missed! Wish I could afford to have both.
  • 1 0
If I had the STD, I've not be used this bike ability to 50%... New Rune was one of the frames, which I consider as a second bike, and new Covert (not carbo) too; but the final choice was the SjFsEvo - so I'll be very interestin of Yout new Rune-review.
  • 1 0
Good choice on the Evo. Great bike!

when can we expect a review? seriously considering this frame as a replacement of my ibis HD which has a similar colour scheme as yours. prepare yourself for unsolicited compliments.
  • 1 0
I've already read some feedback on this same trade (Ibis HD to Rune) on some other forums. Trail riders with efficiency in mind and tires on the ground will prefer the HD. For bike park, technical trail, and very aggressive riding, the Rune has better geometry. I can't comment on frame stiffness between the two as I have not ridden a HD, but my guess would be that the Rune's more robust frame will be significantly more confidence inspiring, at the cost of some added weight. I'm out with a busted hand for awhile but Mike Levy has been riding one for over a month and will have a review shortly.
  • 1 0
Yeah. I think we have a similar style of trail here and part of my curiosity stems from the slacker settings and adjustability of the rune. I very rarely shuttle so the climbing aspect is a need (not a want) for me. our trails are all up, then all down. add a talas and you get a comfortable climbing position. the HD has so far taken anything I've ridden with poise. I even entered a ~10min DH race with it. no drama. BUT i'm getting to a point where I feel like I'm asking too much of the bike. maybe it's the geo or the material, can't put my finger on it, just a feeling. Or maybe it's marketing and my weakness for bicycles.

160 vs 180: the axle to crown difference is about 8mm on the foxes which would be worth the extra travel for me. just for interest, a 170mm vengence is actually longer a to c than a 180mm talas. I'll be watching closely for the review. and the fact that you have one also means a review? if i'm not mistaken Levy is riding a 650b set up, no? I'm locked in to 26" for now. anyways, thanks for the response. always enjoy your media and reviews. cheers.

by the way, could you point me to one of those forums?

Nelson is quite similar to here actually, only you have the potential for even longer climbs and descents. I've always wanted to do the CherryTop Challenge. The Rune would be a really fun bike for that.

I didn't realize the A-C is so tall on the new 160mm forks. My 2012 36 Van 160 is nearly an inch shorter than my '11 Van 180. I have a 2013 34 160mm that measures over 15mm taller than my '12 36 Van 160. Weird. Maybe all the new 34's are 650b compatible? I know they quit making the 36 Van 160 that I plan to use.

Yes, Levy has one in 650b. He normally rides a short travel 29'er so I'd be surprised if he likes it.

I guess it really just comes down to the fact that I have a fork already. If I had more money, I'd buy the Vengeance so I can run 650b, or at least try it out.

What you're saying about the HD is the same as I experienced with the Yeti SB-66. It's hard to precisely point out what it is that keeps it from being 'the one', but it just doesn't have that solid connection. I rode Jon Hadfield's Rune in Squamish for a day to be sure that the Rune was the right choice for me. Pretty sure it is. By the time I'm able to write a review of this frame, you'll already know everything you need to know about it. I'm in a cast for 2 more months. Going in next month to have a rod pulled out of my leg that's been in there for 3 years. I'd say it will be minimal 6 months before I'm able to ride hard enough to qualify an opinion of this frame.

My other choice for this season was an Intense Uzzi, but I've had better luck with Banshee than Intense in the past and the geo fits my style a little better with the Banshee. Marginal though. The Uzzi is beautifully crafted and I like that it's made in North America. Now I'm seeing the S-works Enduro carbon frame with similar geo to this Rune. More alternatives is always better. I think I picked the right bike for me for this season.

I think you mean the Triple Crown? I think Cherry Top is in Fernie. Unless we're going years and years back.

I've done the Triple and it includes Powerslave-The Vein-Paperbag in a day. It's pretty full-on. Everything from hardtail 29ers to TR450s. It's a fun event once you're legs stop spasming.

you should see if they will let you keep the bone rod. My buddy has his in a glass case. Kinda gruesome but also funny.

Funny you mention the Uzzi. was on my list too until I rode one. a) didn't notice the travel increase b) was a bit too squishy on the climb c) felt like I could do everything a bit better on the HD. Even though I REALLY wanted to like it...I just couldn't warm up to it. Beautiful bikes though. Like the company a lot. I should probably give it a second chance.

I may (or may not) have a new photo folder named "banshee" in my profile one of these days...

Best of luck with the healing and thanks again.

Cherry Top goes from Nelson up the gravel road to the top of Baldface, then back down via Cherry Popper, Donkey Punch, Shannon's Flap (at least that's what Leroy said the trail names are). It may not exist anymore. Last I heard of it was 5 or so years ago. It was in poker format, so the winner wasn't based on fastest time. More of a long ride with a chance to win a Cat ski tour at the end. I imagined suffering up that 20km road in August, then bombing down one of the longest descents in North America. I'd still like to do it even if it's not an event anymore.

Triple sounds awesome as well.

I have a buddy that just got an Uzzi and he wasn't blown away on his first couple rides. I was surprised. It certainly looks like the one.

Thanks!

I'm super close to pulling the trigger on a ano black frame! This is a nice color though! When will it be built up?
  • 1 0
Probably not for another month or so. Waiting for parts.
  • 1 0
I hate waiting! I will be doing a complete swap from my current build so I could be on one in a matter of a week & a half! Dam dam dam...Oh well, its only money!
  • 1 0
I should specify, waiting for money for parts. Had surgery and spent all my money on that. Even if I had it built I couldn't ride it for another 4 months. Looks pretty though.
  • 1 0
Gotcha! At least there is light at the end of the tunnel! You will have a super sick bike to ride when you heal up! Heal up fast man!!!
  • 1 0
thanks buddy! it will be motivating to gaze at a brand new ride!

 WANT.

 Boom!
  • 1 0
What shock and type wheelset you going to run?
  • 1 0
CCDB Air shock, Fox 36 Van 160 fork. Not sure on wheels yet. Probably 26" rims in 35mm width.
  • 1 0
just curious why not a 180mm fork. any particular reason?
  • 2 0
I want a bike that rides lighter. Not necessarily actual weight difference, just something that handles quicker and feels faster on the trail, but still maintains uncompromised frame stiffness and the ability to withstand some larger hits. The geo is already plenty slack even with internal headset bearings on a 160mm fork. I would like a 170mm nearly as much, but I have the 160mm fork already. Any more than that and it will start to feel like a DH bike, which for many riders is ideal. There are some really steep, long climbs around here, so it's nice to be able to get on top of the front end rather than hang off the back.
